Looking forward to hopefully seeing Sanchez on the big club. It will be better for these guys once the old men are cleared out.

Sanchez looked good, so did Fowler. Oh and the Rangers won too.

Sadly though with McCann locked in for a few more years I really don't see Sanchez getting much of an opportunity. I mean Murphy as last years back up only played in 67 games & only had 155 ABs.

Fair chance he makes the club out of ST as the backup catcher?

...since the Yanx surprise us all by trading Murphy for a player that didn't really make the team any better, I can't imagine anyone other than Sanchez being the backup catcher. Bring the kid along slowly, let him get some ABs here and there, let him learn more about playing defense from McCann and Girardi.

...and hopefully, he grows into a serviceable/solid catcher who might even get to start 2-3 years from now...and hopefully, this time next year we won't be discussing why the Yanx trade him too.

They need to wise up and realize McCann is no longer a guy who can take a full season behind the plate. He fades into utter uselessness. After July he was a friggin disgrace.

I'm not thrilled with McCann's handling of pitches in the dirt or off the strikezone... naturally the pitcher gets charged with a "wild pitch" but it appears to me there are too many cases where he should've blocked/knocked the ball down and at least kept it from rolling away for a WP.
I've seen too pitches bouncing in the dirt IN FRONT OF HIM or JUST OFF THE PLATE go under his glove and body to the backstop.

Maybe I'm nitpicking or have too high a standard....he still has a good throwing arm and the pitchers "like pitching to him".... He's a good guy and a proud player who is glad to be a Yankee.

If the McCann Sanchez tandem matches the McCann Murphy the Yankees will have no cause for concern behind the dish. Murphy was well liked by the fans, team mates, and the staff. Fuck Cashman, fleeced again.
