Van Slyke was one hell of a hustling ball player. Loved his "Van Slykeisms" that appeared in the article. Old McLendon got really pissed when Kevin Long made comments on Canos lack of hustle. Wonder of he'd get pissed upon reading Van Slykes comments. Probably not he was one of the fired. If Cano felt "disrespected" by anyone he just got a major dose which he brought on himself.

Paraphrasing VS: Miss Daisy had to take the Bus Home, due to Cano's inability to drive her home.....hysterically funny.

Andy was the epitome of a ball player who gave 150% every game he played in

The word 'hustle' and Cano never belong in the same sentence.
I'll say it again..........the only time I actually saw Cano play
energized was when he played on his National team of
Dominican Republic. Right then I knew this guy was a
slacker and I was glad he went somewhere else. He never
showed loyalty in a Yankee uniform.

I will say this. There is more to Van Slyke's assault on Cano.
One player does not get a manager and coaching staff fired.
Van Slyke abhors players who do not give 150%. With Cano,
Seattle was lucky if he gave 50%. This alone burned in
    Van Slyke's psyche.

Cano just took for granted that infielders (defense) never make an error, boot a ball or make an errant throw to first, so why run out a ground ball. Maybe he should have asked someone like Jeter why he hustles to first on every ground ball.
