Pretty shocking, he was only hired a few seasons ago in 2012. NBA teams are not patient!

The coaches that have been with their teams longer than Terry is short:

Gregg Popovich - San Antonio Spurs - 1996
    Erik Spoelstra - Miami Heat - 2008
    Rick Carlisle - Dallas Mavericks - 2008
    Frank Vogel - Indiana Pacers - 2011
    Dwane Casey - Toronto Raptors - 2011
    Randy Wittman - Washington Wizards - 2012

Coaches that were hired after Stotts:

    Mike Budenholzer - Atlanta Hawks - 2013
    Jeff Hornacek - Phoenix Suns - 2013
    Steve Clifford - Charlotte Hornets - 2013
Doc Rivers - Los Angeles Clippers - 2013
    David Joerger - Memphis Grizzlies - 2013
    Brad Stevens - Boston Celtics - 2013
    Brett Brown - Philadelphia 76ers - 2013
Stan Van Gundy - Detroit Pistons - 2014
Steve Kerr - Golden State Warriors - 2014
    Quin Snyder - Utah Jazz - 2014
Derek Fisher - New York Knicks - 2014
    David Blatt - Cleveland Cavaliers - 2014
    Jason Kidd - Milwaukee Bucks - 2014
    Lionel Hollins - Brooklyn Nets - 2014
Byron Scott - Los Angeles Lakers - 2014
    George Karl - Sacramento Kings - 2015
Billy Donovan - Oklahoma City Thunder - 2015
    Scott Skiles - Orlando Magic - 2015
Alvin Gentry - New Orleans Pelicans - 2015
    Fred Hoiberg - Chicago Bulls - 2015
    Michael Malone - Denver Nuggets - 2015
    Sam Mitchell - Minnesota Timberwolves - 2015
    J. B. Bickerstaff - Houston Rockets - 2015

Wow. Paul is actually more patient than most owners, Nate was pretty high on the seniority list also.

I don't know where people are coming from when they talk about how PA will just dump Stotts to get a "developmental coach" or a "defensive coach" or a whatever coach. The Cho sacking maybe? He was patient as fuck with McMillan. Stotts has done a good job with what he has had to work with. I think he'll be here through Lillard's contract.

Would be interesting a plot of winning percentage vs coaching tenure.

I want a new coach, too... but realistically, we have him for the foreseeable future.

Did you just want to fit in?

I just looked at the 6 coaches who've been at their jobs longer than Stotts.

All of their teams currently have winning records.

Yeah I didn't mean it as a slight on Stotts; I meant it as an indicator of how other NBA teams perform with consistency in place from management on down. The constant hiring and firing of coaches hurts a teams chance to win.

Players come and go, but a true dynasty is built on a foundation of consistency and the only way for that to happen is to have it from the top down. An owner must put faith in the GM that he has anointed and likewise for the GM to the coach and ALL THREE should be a part of all decisions regarding the players on the team. Without that a coach's back is against the wall from day one and the players will dictate the philosophy of the team. This will be very evident in Houston. They want some miraculous turnaround and they will win some more games, they are too talented not to, but they aren't going to win a ring over even get out of the first round if they make the playoffs I thing, because the players dictate everything.
