This the first title for a PDX major league team since 77?

If you're sitting anywhere but with the Timbers army, it's not nearly as fun. I went to a game about a month ago and if you're sitting at the other end of the stadium, you can't hear any of the chants or be involved in the fun stuff.

The army is where it's at. Luckily I have lots of friends in the section, so I can usually go with one of them a couple times a season.

I didn't realize the difference until I went to a game with a bunch of people from my wife's work. We sat at the end closest to the MAC club. It was boring as hell. Couldn't hear any of the chants or anything.

My season tics are in the key bank club right next to the Army. Best of both worlds. :)

Remember when season tickets for the North End were $107? I suggested that price to the team and they adopted it for 2-3 seasons. "$107 for 107"

This will finally be the death of Civic Stadium/Providence Park/PGE Park/Jeld-Whatever. Timbers will demand a new stadium. It was dumb to put lipstick on that pig. Should have built a new stadium instead of remodeling Civic.

I kind of half agree with you. I don't think we would have the MLS Timbers if we didn't already have PGE in place. I'd love to see a second deck on the East side and South end expanded as well. Could they add 8,000-10,000 more seats? Would that be enough? The season ticket waitlist is 12,000. I used to joke with my soccer nerd/TA friends that I hope to see the day when MLS regrets building all of those 20,000 seaters in the suburbs and all the MLS teams are moving into NFL stadiums.

Civic Stadium doesn't have the facilities to handle the crowds it gets now. Adding more seats is only going to make it worse. The stadium was built in 1926. We're not talking about the LA Coliseum here.

Agreed. I just can't envision a new stadium happening in this town unless it was entirely financed by the owner. It would be fantastic to build a 30-40,000 seater somewhere in the heart of Portland, but the political will would not be there and the NIMBY's would be.

NASL Timbers jammed 30,000 in there on occasion.

The Southside has its uses. When I started going to games, it was just me. The Army was great and thought the same as you. Once my kid started going with me, an assigned seat is best. He does not enjoy the chaos as much.

As a family, we prefer the Thorns. The Riveters keep it lively but not over the line. The game play seems better. Less flopping.

Best part of being a Thorns/Timbers season ticket holder is the price. My mid field fifth row seats for the entire season cost nearly the same as it would cost for a few Blazer games in the same location.

I'm in the Key Bank Club. So I pay a lot. Totally worth it though.

Good. That's the most annoying part and is one of the big reasons why I hate soccer. That might be doable then.

Well, until the Timber joined MSL, we only had one (major league team).

Pretty cool that both of Portland's professional teams are going to win a championship this year.
