...Aaron Judge and Andrew Miller + $10 cash for Jose Fernandez ? ...this is a trade idea that's been tossed around.
...I'd do it if it were for the players mentioned in the OP...but from what I'm hearing, the Dodgers as well as other teams are talking to Miami and they want a king's ransom in return...Cashman, if you do this deal, use your head.
Why has he only appeared in 19 games over the last 2 years? Never mind I just read up on him TJS, I'd have to pass.
...Rick, the way pitchers are throwing nowadays most have either already had TJ surgery or they'll eventually have it.
Okay never mind, This was just Marchand shooting off his mouth again. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/ya...make-a-deal-for-marlins-righty-jose-fernandez
...it's not just Marchand...there are other sources reporting that the Yanx and Marlins have discussed Fernandez. ...it's not likely to happen because Miami wants a ton in return but it has been part of talks between the two teams.
Tough call - if we only knew if Fernandez was going to be physically sound with his arm in the next few years. Cashman must be chomping on the bit at the chance of obtaining a bona fide young Ace by only giving up one top prospect...and Miller. I wouldn't do it unless I have another trade in the wings for some other top closer or setup guy.
I'd love to have Jose Fernandez, although It's my opinion, his "Slider From Hell" Pre: TJ, was sharper, broke quicker, harder, with alot more movement on it, than it did this last year. I saw all but one of Jose's starts this year. He's still impressive though, Post TJ; even if his fastball has only lost approx: 1-2 mph, his slider still capable of mid-90s. But not the impossible to hit, eyes in the ball type of Slider. N I have no doubt Jose will regain any every ounce of speed, accuracy, more=so dominance. Your right, the Marlins are asking the farm for Him in return. I'd not give up the players like Miller that are Key to this Team, not Betances, not Bird, not Severino, these are the "Hell No's"..... As far as Fernandez and the Yanks, I don't agree at all with this article, (noted below) or- giving up anyone noted herein for Jose. The back n forth of Miami saying "he's not going nowhere", to Olney saying chances are increasing considerably, then back to no deals. WTF. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/ya...make-a-deal-for-marlins-righty-jose-fernandez Any other's, (tho' I'd rather see Judge grow up a Yankee), someone will have to eat some crow for Jose. Then we hear this: Donnie BB is back in the LA news daily, over Jose, and the Young Guns, He's mentioned in return, ie Cory Seager, Julio Arias, and/or Joc Pederson; (might as well say "the farm"). Donnie knows the value and talent of the Bums Prospects, as well if not better than the brass, ......in Tinsel Town.... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...letter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=mlb
Yep, plenty of talk as well about Multi-Team deals involving Jose, and several teams: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...st-news-and-speculation-on-marlins-sps-future
...if he ends up being traded there's something to consider about Fernandez, though he's a ligit #1 starter, whoever gets him would basically be getting a 3 year rental because he becomes a FA after the 2018 season...and his agent is Scott Boras who always takes his clients to the open FA market. ...with this in mind, depending on the package required to acquire him, I'm having second thoughts.
Same here, after years of Bor-Ass bullshit, I'd not even want to negotiate with any Bor-ass client players.....the man is ruining baseball players mentality, and turning them into Commodities. These days "Free Agent", "grievance" and "recall" of a player takes on an entirely different meaning, than the days of simply wanting to play at the MLB level, to fulfill a childhood dream; long before Greed was a factor.....sad state of affairs...... Bor-ass is perhaps more responsible single handedly for the downfall and/or the decadence of Players, as to what Guggenheims disregard for payroll is.......
