After coming back to online and some radio stations, Art Bell is calling it quits again. This time, someone has apparently been stalking him at his home and he feels he and his families lives are in danger.

Sucks, because it kind of nice hearing him on the air again, but not surprising. The guy retires every other month it seems.

Wow.... sorry but I don't believe him. There's always some excuse. I've never heard of any other radio show host with this much drama.

Agreed. If there is really an issue with someone stalking/shooting at his house, that's what police are for.

I think he looked for any out he could, because thats his M.O.

Realistically, if someone is stalking you, why would going off the air make a difference? I would think moving would be #1 for me. Getting some better security would be #2. The guy is loaded. Why not hire a security guard to sit outside your house all night? It's totally a cop out.

the ONLY way I think it makes sense to quit is if thats what the police told him to do.

But I'm not sure why they would.

It's no big loss. I subscribed to his membership and only listened to a couple episodes. It was boring. The show feels like a bad remake of a classic. It's not so much on Art, it's just that the topics have all been overdone. I'm not interested in hearing about UFO's or abductions. I don't care about ghosts anymore. It was a new and exciting genre 20 years ago, but now it's constantly rehashed and boring.

Very true. He never really changed with the times. It's an outdated show. Still was neat listening to it, but to be honest, it's kind of like when one of your favorite TV shows comes back after a few years and you realize that you moved on without it.

Yeah... not a lot of things hold up over time. I just remember being totally captivated by him and his show when I was younger, but now it's just not the same.

Him not being on the air for a long time made it easy to get over not hearing his show, and then Noory basically took a huge dump on it too.

I stopped listening when an onslaught of blog posts claimed that his area 51 call was fake.

    Hired actors.

I never heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of radio is fake. A lot of "reality" entertainment is completely fake.

The Mel's hole thing was also extremely fake sounding.

I just liked the guests , for example last night the lady who wrote the book Gravity and got screwed by the movie studios.

Well there's a difference between going along with it and actually manufacturing it. I didn't think art would actually create fake calls, but now I wouldn't put it past him. Similarly, I don't know if I believe him now. His show is probably not doing as well as he thought it would and now he's bailing again. The guy clearly has a huge ego.

Apparently someone has been shooting at him. Two different incidences.

Looks like he's had work done, lol.

I remember it being fake, but don't remember Art being in on it.

I used to listen to Art Bell when I was in college (before he was hip.) It was kind of cool to hear him talk to some guy in Eastern Washington with a mysterious hole he couldn't find the bottom of. I'd get a half rack and listen to him plug shitty electronic products from deep in the Vegas night. Then he attracted those hardcore morons (who talk to God on a one way radio.) Because let's face it, when your memorialized in a Tool song, you NEED to shed your audience. So I'm not surprised he's quitting again.
