Broncos right cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed this morning after leaving a nightclub in a limousine, Denver Broncos sources say. Two other people, a man and a woman, who were in the back of an H2 Hummer limousine, were also shot but their injuries were not considered life threatening, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman. The police department was not confirming Williams was the one who was fatally shot but the Denver Broncos said they were contacted by police and said that he was killed. Police were only saying that a man was shot to death. The limousine was northbound on Speer Boulevard between 10th and 11th streets at about 2 a.m. when a car pulled pulled up next to the limo andstarted shooting multiple shots, Jackson said.Denver police are searching for suspects but no one is in custody, he said. It was unclear how many suspects there were. "There are suspects but we're not identifying who we're searching for," Jackson said. Police are pursuing leads that Williams and his companions were in a nightclub shortly before the shooting, Jackson said. Homicide detectives were interviewing witnesses to determine the motive of the shooting. The H2 limousine owned by A Advantage Limousine Service has room for 23 people and rents for $250 an hour on New Year's Eve, according to the owner. "This is the first time anything like this has happened to us," he said. He said he could not comment about the shooting at the request of the police department. Jackson said only passengers of the limousine were shot. Williams was 24. Williams was the Broncos' starting right cornerback and played his final game for the team in a 26-23 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers that eliminated Denver from the playoffs on New Year's Eve. Jackson said he could not discuss whether police are speaking with team officials. The police department will not release the victim's name until his family is properly notified, he said. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_4931937[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]R.I.P...Stupid mad bi*ch ass Broncos fans

Thats terrible. What a bad way to end the season. 49ers eliminate them in a tough overtime game. Then he gets shot. Thats tough. Shot in a limo, strange. Shootings like that really piss me off

Topics merged. Truly sad. When was the last time an active sports player was shot and killed just out of the blue?

Man thats really sad. I'm not a broncos fan but I really did like Darrant Williams. Maybe it was the cool name or how he was a pretty good player. He was shot and killed during a driveby after a arguement in a bar or something. RIP Darrant Williams - January 1, 2007.

He was an amazing talent there and I knew he could be a star in the pros. Injuries did bother him in college and in the pros, but when he was healthy he was really good. I remember in college when he got a pick sometimes he would literally catch it on the left sideline and go crossfield and score a touchdown. My paryers go out to him and his family. RIP.

Darrent Williams born: 9/27/82died: 1/1/07Darrent Williams the successful corner for Denver Broncos died in a drive-by at 2:00 A.M. on New Years. After a New Years Eve party Darrent Williams hosted, he was in a stretch H2 hummer with his teammate Javon Walker when a car pulled up besides them and started firing. Darrent Williams was found dead, 2 other people were injured. Javon Walker was the only one not harmed. Champ Bailey went straight to the hospital when he found out around 3:00 A.M. that D-Will was dead. The doctors did all they could to try to revive him but the shot that went through his neck was to severe to revive. At 24 years old he is sorely missed by family and friends. He was my favorite player before this happened and he still is even though hes not playing hes always there inside all of the Denver fans and in his family. This saddened me and prolly most people. R.I.P. Darrent Williams
