Hey folks. Just wondering who here is an Anime/Manga fan. I had this thread up on 49ers Forums before I got banned, and it was really popular. So I thought I'd start it here. So fellow Otaku, what do you like? Myself, I'm a HUGE Attack On Titan Manga fanboy. Not big on the anime though, because it's SO far behind the manga. I have a whole list of anime that I like, but three that really stand out are "Heaven's Lost Property", "Ouran High School Host Club", and "Jormungand" (I have both seasons saved on my hard-drive). So what do you like, and what are you watching/reading currently? Discuss.
Can we somehow hide this thread from HCP, so that he doesn't call us nerds? Anyway, I'm too lazy to read manga, so I just watch animes. And I wouldn't consider myself some sort of big anime fan or anything, so I'm no otaku, not that there's anything wrong with that. But..... I love the Attack on Titan anime. So don't post any spoilers, lol. The Death Note anime/manga/movies were all awesome! I've watched the entire Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT series, and even watched some of the new Dragon Ball Super series. Bleach was cool! I'm currently watching Naruto Shippudden and Detective Conan. I love basketball and I like anime, so I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed Slam Dunk and Kuroko's Basketball. Those are just some off the top of my head that I've watched.
The only anime I recognize out of your post is AOT. Are the other ones for more mature viewers or are more serious? As you might've guessed, I watch mostly action-oriented shounen animes (I think that's the term people use)?
See, I don't like these other animes because of the wild hair, the bandannas, the big eyes, and terrible graphics (Dragon Ballz). Sorry. I'm sure they're great, but the graphics and animation just turn me off. I get it: it's part of the character and the storyline, and there are other animes out there with the same issues. I know. But I just don't like them. Well, Ouran High School Host Club is a comedy about a rich-kids high school. It is absolutely hilarious. Well worth watching! The other, Jormungand, is about a child soldier who's taken in by an Arms Dealer, Koko, and her band of mercenaries. And she's bent on world domination. It's pure action, with bits of comedy thrown in. VERY good story line that has you falling in love with the characters; good guys and bad. I found a list on a cigar forum that I'm a member of, of the list of animes I've seen (I started the same thread over there as well) (list is about a year old; notes next to each title are not updated): -Ouran High School Host Club (love it, have some episodes on my hard drive) -Jormundgand (LOVE IT, have the entire series on my hard drive) -Karneval (enjoyed it, wish there was a 2nd season) -The Devil is a Part Timer! (didn't enjoy it; got about 8 episodes in before I gave up watching it) -Amnesia (very good, a bit sad at the end) -Monster (Thus far, it's the best anime I've ever seen. I'm on episode 63, very VERY good) -Black Butler (Series 1 and 2; I've yet to see Series 3 until it's dubbed; I love it) -Girls und Panzer (Love it, can't wait for season 2, which I hear they're making) -Black Lagoon (what can I say? It's just AWESOME! Eagerly awaiting season 3 dub) -Heaven's Lost Property (LOVE it! Currently watching season 2) -High School of the Dead (LOVE it, can't wait for next season) -High School DxD/New/BorN (Watching it, love it) -Phantom: Requiem For The Phantom (very good, very sad) -Hidan no Aria (I like this, still watching it) -Is this a Zombie?/of the dead (really liked it, wouldn't be opposed to seeing another season) -Princess Jellyfish (funny, very well done) -Deadman Wonderland (LOVED it, wish they'd do another season) -The Appleseed Series (Very difficult to follow along, and not a fan of the latest episodes because of the poor graphics) -Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (AKA: Suisei no Galgantia; watching this, good so far) -Heaven's Lost Property (currently my favorite Anime; eagerly awaiting the English dub for "Final: Eternal My Master") I wrote that about a year ago, so I've probably have a couple more to add to that. But I also have this list of anime I would like to see (which I updated in July with what I've seen): -Strike Witches (seen both seasons; very good) -Rosario+Vampire (watching it when I can) -Psycopass (seen parts of it) -Stein;s Gate (haven't finished it) -Murder Princess -CANAAN (seen it, very good) -Soul Eater -Great Teacher Onizuka -Baccano! (only seen part of the first episode) -xxxHOLiC -Girls Bravo -Fairy Tail (only seen part of the first episode) -Muteki Kanban Musume -Sword Art Online -Accel World -Blood C (as I understand it, there are two different "series" in this; one is dubbed, the other is not) -Ergo Proxy (not sure if I like it...) -A Certain Scientific Railgun -Corpse Demon -Tokyo Ghoul (seen it, VERY good) -Kill la Kill (not sure if I like it) -Akame ga Kill (Like it, watching it) There may be a couple that I'm missing. Currently, I'm watching the second season of "Seraph Of The End". I really like it.
You know the main character in that anime, Shinji, is routinely voted on Anime websites by fans as the single most annoying character ever put in an Anime. He's pretty bad, lol. I got through one episode of listening to him cry, before I went "fuck this".
"Attack on Titan", "Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?" are two of my favorite. Trying to get time to watch SAO, and Fate/Zero etc.
I've heard a LOT about this anime, but I haven't seen it. Yet. Not sure if it's my type of anime though. It's a comedy, right?
It's a comedic superhero kind of show that pretends to be serious at times. The first season is ending over the weekend and it's totally worth a try. It's on Hulu.
