Raines -imo- belongs in the HOF.
Just his "traditional stats" alone are good enough for me and him being a contemporary of Ricky Henderson has practically nothing to do with it as far as I'm concerned, Raines' stats stand by themselves...and they stand very tall----but, I'm not thrilled about the disclosure of him literally carrying illicit drugs on his person during games.

...yeah, if not for Henderson, Raines may have been the greatest leadoff hitter of all time.

Same here. Raines had a great career, 1,571 Runs Scored, 907 RBI's, a Lifetime .385 OBP, 1,330 Walks, with an excellent Stolen Base Pctg, with incredible speed on the base paths, and in the OF; .....and totals 5th All Time for SB's.........

No doubt the marks of a great Lead Off Hitter, and a damn good Outfielder with sound Glove-work, a helluva range factor on top of everything else.

Interesting trend, Raines got 24.3% of HOF Votes in 2008, but got 55.0% last year.......hopefully his stock will rise, enough to get the Nod...

Also Rob if I can add to that, over 2,600 career hits, 294 career Average. And only Henderson had more 70+ stolen base seasons with 6, Ricky had 7. Raines however did it for 6 STRAIGHT seasons.

Quit impressive. Raines in His prime, I'd dare say was as good overall in every aspect, as about any other player(s). Montreal seemed like a Farm Club for all other Teams, from day one, to their departure from Quebec....
