One of the waitresses at the bar showed us a photo she took of a customer (male) in full Slave Leia costume.

I really thought the Kasdan/Abrams partnership would come up with a more creative script. The dialogue was polished, quippy, and tightly edited - Kasdan. And there was a good amount of Star Wars eye candy like the Millenium Falcon going off road, the suspended lazer shot, the shipwrecked Star Destroyer - Abrams. And together they did a good job making the characters interesting and easy to root for, although that probably falls just as much on the terrific casting.

But the storyline is too fragmented for my tastes. I read they did that on purpose, letting the viewer fill in the spaces instead. Lucas struggled with the storytelling execution last time out, but the cause and effects were explained. Probably over-explained with Lucas, but the more details the richer and more interesting the mythology in my opinion. I suppose looking at New Hope in a vacuum could be described similarly, and trust the next two will fill in the missing pieces. Still, they could have taken a 5 minute sit down between Leia and Ray to give us a glimpse of what happened the last 30 years, like Kenobi did with Luke throughout IV-VI.

Also, I like the Finn character, but what will be his defining niche? The Poe character has some Han swagger and he's an ace pilot, and we know Rey is the hero strong in the Force. Is he to represent the regular average Joe, or does he have some end up with some supernatural ability?

Yeah, he's the only one that doesn't really fit the original archetypes. If Rey is Luke, and Poe is Han, who the fuck is Fin? Is he the new Lea? They didn't quite go with the same characters, but Luke is essentially Yoda and Han was Ben Kanobi.

Three out of seven from this franchise they blow up a Death Star. I am seriously looking into Star Trek before they blow up the fourth.

Or... like.... stopping laser blasts mid air and holding them there?

The dude is more powerful than any Jedi we've seen in some scenes, and a total weak ass bitch in others.

How many languages does Rey speak? She spoke to whatever that was that netted BB-8 (fucking blatant toy product placement IYAM), BB-8, Chewie, badically every single language she hears, she just understands. Maybe she's the daughter of Aeryn Sun and John Chrighton, and was born with translator microbes already in her system?

I really hope they don't have Luke go down like a bitch in the next movie. Want to see him as a really powerful Jedi, kind of like how Yoda vs. Palpatine and it just kind of ends like that. Don't want to see no Obi Wan bullshit.

Someone obviously told Carrie Fisher to keep a stiff upper lip, and boy did she take that advice to heart...

Just can't believe that the plot centered around some plucky rebels blowing up another Death Star in it's one weak spot (or Death Planet in this case.) That makes 3 movies out of 7.

    What a tired plot device.

If the bad guys are going to keep building them the good guys have to blow them up. Maybe the next movie they'll have a Death Cube.

Just got back from the movie. I liked the intertwining of new characters and old characters and some of the homage to the original trilogy. I bet you Luke smelled really bad in that final scene. I didn't see a shower or a shitter. Luke has just been standing there for like a year. He probably reeked. That is why Rey kept her distance.
