    How does that equate though?

So no body else was available makes a player better?
HE was below average with us. and somewhat of a chucker. I love the logic though. So in saying that, there was no one better available to swap for Batum, so that makes Batum a much better player, even though his stats last year sucked?

You are right that if he was better he wouldn't have been available for what we paid to get him, but that doesnt make him a better player...

Still doesnt make him a better player. He still shot below his career for us and seemed often to be Chucking. Was he great for the Blazers? Yes. Is he a great backup PG compared to the league? Meh....

So because he was better than a crappy player (Blake), that makes your statement true?

I guess, if compared to Blake, its true. But it doesn't mean that he was anything great. It just means he was decent.

The ex-Blazers would sweep a 7 game series against the current Blazers.

The dead Blazers would beat this current team.

The Barton/Afflalo trade is a disaster. Barton is becoming one of the best players in the NBA.

One of the top 300, easily...

I love Will, right back to before we drafted him, but we're overstocked at his position - he would've been behind CJ and Crabbe at least. He wouldn't've got the chance to show his stuff if he'd stayed with us. Just be happy for him.

Barton is exploding in this role.

He's developing into what many hoped Fernandez would turn into.

    Horrific trade.

    RE Barton and that clip:

He's a much, much better player now than he was in Portland. He was PASSING the ball. I'm floored. He has greatly improved his three point shot.

(Significantly in that clip: N.O. was playing no defense. At. All.)

Even though I think the trade made sense at the time, considering how things turned out, I do wish the Blazers had not done it.

PG: Mills, Bayless, Jack, Mo, Blake, Felton, Dre, Price
    SG: Matthews, Barton, Crawford, Afflalo
SF: Batum, Babbit, Gee, James Jones
PF: Aldridge, Randolph, McBob, Cunningham, Frye, TRob, Hickson
    C: Lopez

    Anyone significant I'm forgetting?

Man, that was a depressing exercise. Even the second unit would give the current Blazers fits.

The second unit would get waxed. Furthermore, I'd say this is the opposite of depressing: I see that list as a whole lot of MEH, and shows us why our bench has been horrific and shows how average we really were beyond our starting 4+ROLO.

IF I were building a contender, I'd take two or three players from that list. and for the current Blazers team? I'm glad none of them are still blazers with the exception of PGs. Batum, LMA, Wes...don't need em. Not pillars to a CHIP

You don't think guys like Barton, Randolph, Crawford, Afflalo, and Bayless would score at will on the current team? And their defense would be good enough to hang with our offense.
