And I want to keep him...I have said that many times. I also know we cannot keep him with Staal here. If I were king of the world I would deal Staal in a second to keep Yandle.

With that said, he has 1 goal. And I also know McD has two less points. Boyle has also been the better PP player this year IMO. He has been on ice for 8 of our last 9 PPG's I believe,

Trade Staal and we can keep Yandle...I am 100000000000000000000% on board with that.

This is not an I hate Yandle thing, I am a big Yandle fan and want him here. This is a we can't keep him with Staal here and I do not think he is a difference maker. He is a solid 2nd pair LD who is good on the PP. I don't think that equals difference maker, but intelligent people can disagree...:).

Still think we'll be fine and too early to panic. lets get klein back and another game or 2 for step. Still 3rd in conference in points. Expect Gorton to move around a piece or 2 soon to change things up a little. More worried that when girardi and klein comes back Dickhead AV sits dylan who has been our best RD since Klein got hurt. Still amazed AV put zucc on a line with glass.

Agree, Mel. This team will be fine in the long run. We definitely need some fine tuning but these players did not suddenly forget how to play hockey and the last few games does not suddenly mean every trade made the past 2yrs is bad.

And I agree as well mel as I said. I do think we need a move to wake up this stale team, but I 100% agree we'll be fine and fully believe in this team still.

And for you 31...who clearly posts just to get me fired up you are a joke man...Yandle has played 80 games with us +/-. He does not appear to be a difference maker to me. He is a nice player. A solid 2nd pair LD. A guy I clearly want here over Staal, but I do not think he has proven worthy of what we gave up for him. That's it. People can disagree, but to me he has not proven worthy at all. DOUBLE SO when we cannot keep him unless we deal Staal.

So for 1.5 years of Yandle, who to me is not a difference maker, that was not a good deal IMO. That's it.

You have to pay Hayes, Kreider, Miller and McIlrath as RFA's. Good thing 3 of them are having crap seasons.

Dump is right, PLUS you simply cannot have McD, Staal, G, AND Yandle all locked up long term with AAV's over 4.7 per season. That is way too much money spent on the D in a cap world. And you pay that much for Yandle to be your 3rd pair LD...no good.

To me it is very simple. Staal or Yandle cannot be here next year...no shot. I pray they find a way to deal Staal so we can keep Yandle.

Unfortunate that the Rangers don't understand that they are a first class organization in the eyes of players in the league and stop giving out these idiotic NTC's which they don't need to do.

I still think the play is to get Staal to give you a list of teams he'd okay a deal to, package him with Hayes, and go after a forward upgrade that is proven and we can count on to be gritty and score those tough goals...hopefully a R shot.

I am also very interested to see who gets scratched next week assuming G and Klein are ready. Shouldn't be McIlrath or Boyle. Go 7 dmen.

I think Yandle is the one getting traded. The fact that AV doesn't use him much on the PP, doesn't give him a second on PK and instead gives it to summers who sucks and consistently gives him less minutes on the ice tells me AV doesn't value Yandle as much as he does staal. Wish I was wrong but thats what AV's actions signal to me.

Agreed mel. The PP has been doing well I must say. Boyle has been the key cog on the PP...surprisingly.

I would scratch 5m Marc Staal, as i think he's making it a very easy decision. Great value in that contract so far huh? :)

He's been pretty good but it's been 20g, maybe we can wait a little longer to say he's a surefire thing no?

Well either this is some excellent sarcasm, or you have apparently forgotten that you declared McIlrath a bust after THREE GAMES and posted about trading him for a fourth round pick just one month ago.

I brought this up because, other than Yandle, I dont think you've ever posted anything positive about any defenseman this team has had. Even when McIlrath has been playing great the past month it has been radio silence from the biggest defensive critic on the board. The latest target du jour, now that Girardi is hurt, is Staal. Yeah he sucks so far this year and yeah I'd love to be able to trade him, but there's a reason every analyst said if he hit FA he was easily a 6m dollar player. He will get better.

I'm not so sure Staal will get all that much better going forward, he's only becoming more timid as he gets into his 30's and just dosen't look like a proactive player anymore. And i have always liked Klein since he got here. I've been critical of Yandle at times too. On Mcilrath i wouldn't say he's been 'great', but compared to the buffonery from the vets and what i thought he'd be its been a nice surprise.

If they could deal Staal or Girardi for a salary dump and get back picks, it would open up a world of possibilities. However, they have to agree to that. I don't think they would. I think their NTC's are limited after year 3 of their contracts.
