They've got us at $56,871,160 for 2016 but that includes all of our RFA and guys like Montero and Cliff Alexander. The cap is expected to go up to almost $90 million. I'm not entirely sure what a max contract will look like in the new cap.

Depending on how unbalanced the trade was, it looks like they might be able to sign a significant player at the deadline and still clear enough room for two max contracts. If it weren't for the fact that so many other teams will have room for at least one, that situation would really have me excited.

Why is the Meyers Leonard pick always considered a "con" or a "loss"?

A list of the players taken after him in the First Round looks something like this:
    12: Jeremy Lamb
    13: Kendall Marshall
    14: John Henson
    15: Moe Harkless
    16: Royce White
    17: Tyler Zeller
    18: Terrence Jones
    19: Andrew Nicholson
    20: Evan Fournier
    21: Jared Sullinger
    22: Fab Melo
    23: John Jenkins
    24: Jared Cunningham
    25: Tony Wroten
    26: Milkes Plumlee
    27: Arnett Moultrie
    28: Perry Jones
    29: Marquis Teague
    30: Festus Ezeli

Who exactly is A) a better player than Leonard right now? and B) a likely selection at 11?

The 2012 draft was extremely top-heavy and we missed out on a player like Andre Drummond at No.9, because we won too many games.

Out of that list, I would have taken

    Henson
    Fournier
    Sullinger

    The rest are "meh."

I think Hibbert has to be moved to the Con as well, that would have been a worse signing than Hawes. Offering the max to Kanter is also highly questionable. Imagine this team with a no defense center.

I wouldn't call Stotts a bad hiring though...the team certainly played much better with him that McMillen. But it's frustrating that night after night, we see the Blazers frustrated by aggressive defenses, while ours sits back and plays conservatively, even though we have a long athletic roster.

I'd also move the batum/vonleh trade to the "meh" catagory. Vonleh looks like a dud, but he took a shot at getting a lottery pick prospect rather than letting Batum walk for nothing.

I think our front court would make a great 2nd unit front court. They just don't quite cut it as starters. Indivudally, they could be starters if they were surrounded by better talent. But I don't think there were really any better options for Neil this offseason.

Vonleh looks like a dud with that huge sample that we've seen from him and all those years in the league.

OK people seriously need to get off the Hawes thing with short hindsight. Lets take a look back at the season prior to Olsheys offer to Hawes.

80 games played split between Cleveland and Philly 25 YO
    30 mpg
    13.5 ppg
    8.3 rpg
    3.0 apg
    1.2 BPG
    .456 fg%
    .416 3pt%

That is not a "bad" player to go after especially when you are wanting to space the floor. It's easy to look back after the fact and feel like you know it all, but in reality you had no more clue at the time than Neil did that Hawes was going to lay an egg in LA.

By Comparison our Starting center was Lopez and in the same season
    31 mpg
    11.1 ppg
    8.7 rpg
    0.9 apg
    1.7 bpg
    .551 fg%
    Zero 3pt attempts

    Yeah terrible idea.

He was one of the most sought after free agents. People seem to forget that.

I don't get the Barnes love. Especially given how much people hated Nic. Even during Nic's "bad" year he was better than Barnes. Paying Barnes MAX would be stupid.

Whatever. I thought the idea sucked before we even met with him. He was a mediocre player on a horrible team, now he's a bad player on a good team. How a player that fits either of those descriptions becomes your #1 target is beyond me. It has nothing to do with hindsight or how he's performed for LAC.

Barnes is lost on a team of young talented players. He's behind Curry, Thompson, Draymond, and Iggy. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery and a chance to shine. Look at what Will Barton is doing.

Thats not the vibe I was getting last season from Blazers fans. Be interesting to see the drama unfold when the Blazers dump Plumlee. Stay tuned Blazers fans!

Yea, but he's playing for freakin Derek Fisher right now. When he played for Stotts he was a legit 10ppg and 8rpg per 30mpg guy and was considered a solid, valuable Center.

He also kinda kicked Plums in the butt last time they played so...

He was good on the team we got him for. Good for our current team? Hell no. And you don't think there was any motivation in outplaying Plums for one night do you? But what are thier stats for this year? I bet Plums kicks his ass in the stats.

There are a lot more on that list who i consider better than Biebs right now.

I really liked Lamb at the time, i was shocked he dropped that low.
