People are too much into their favorite player or team that they just dont realize the facts. Or HATE players n dont realize the facts.
I agree. Stats are important but not the deciding factor on who is better. Bruce Bowen is an example of that.
I think Celticballa underrates stats a bit but he sort of does have a point. I don't really think stats are overrated, it's only annoying when people don't know how to use them and they just throw them out and say, "see, this guy is better."

Why is everyone saying CB/stats? This topic gives room for much more discussion.I'll start, first and foremost the most recent is the Dsoung death. I was convinced he died. I know midgets don't live long but I was still in shock.Next, I thought someone would have said this because it was pretty hillarious and people brought it up as a memory of 06'. The day when CB4 said he masturbated in a public stall at a basketball game. This one still remains to be proven untrue, despite numerous outcries by CB4 he was only joking.Some other quick ones, when JB had some of the BBW chat convinced that BCB should be demoted. When people thought I was Waqas.Edited: Forgot to mention Mavsfan has a personal vendetta agaisnt Stackhouse and Van Horn.Those are some of the ones that come to mind right now.

Stackhouse and even worse Van Horn fit that mold. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they were on the bench but Avery for some reason played them a lot.
Cool, I'm glad I somehow convinced people that stats are overrated. There are also people in this thread saying that I underrate stats. Well, I'm not someone that never looks at a box score or doesn't give a damn about stats whatsoever. It's just when people say "so and so has 0.6 more ppg and 0.5 more rpg, he even shoots 2% better from the field! Therefore, he's the better player. Stats tell you that!" WRONG. Stats tell you that Allen Iverson is a good defensive player, because he is always up near the top of the league in steals every year. When in reality, he's not a good defender, he is quick and he plays in the passing lanes. Stats tell you that Matt Carroll is the best free throw shooter in the league. Stats tell you that a guy shot 5-14, but they don't tell you that on 7 of those shots, he was bumped, he was forced to throw a shot up at the end of the shot clock. Maybe 3 of them were tip ins? Stats tell you SO many false things, and people vastly overrate them (especially on BBW in debates and such). In all honesty, nobody here has convinced me to view things differently...my opinions are strong...and generally right. I agree with CB32 and what he's been saying. Statistics are a bunch of hooey more often than not.
I am convinced that it is impossible to debate with Valo.I learned a lot of old school stuff on this board. Reggie Theus...My opinions are very strong also. There wasn't much that members here taught me.
