The man was only 57, way to young to go. One of those baseball moments when he hit that bomb off of Donnie Moore that changed the outcome of a series.
...damn...very good player. ...Moore and Henderson cross paths in an iconic moment in Baseball...Moore eventually commits suicide, and Henderson also dies much too young.
Still remember the Angels Players up on the dugout edge waiting for the strike that never came and the ball going over the fence. One knew that if the Angels could not come back their pennant hopes would go up in Smoke. One of the disappointing things in Angels history is that they could not win a pennant while Gene Autry owned the tem. Always heard Autry was pretty classy with his ball players.
What was the cause? Heart...? Yep, changed the outcome, of both Men. Never forget a moment of that game, its burned into my memory. burned so much, I did burn an Angels hat on the garage floor; had Kim's Joyner Jersey, and Starter Coat, Hat as well on the garage bench, put 'em in a heap, grabbed for the lighter fluid, when Kim walks in........saved, .... nice to have wives who understand their eldest Son's melt down. I refused to watch the games 6-7 in Boston. I knew as well as the Team themselves knew, they would NOT win in Boston. 0-2 Count, 2 outs, 1 strike to go to the W.S., and Witt is removed, while Gedman was HBP, ...by the POS reliever, with his 27.0 ERA. the P.D. on horseback down the lines, and The Singing Cowboy's party was spoiled, for the last hope and time..... (yep, 2 teamer? No, multi, .... multi-multi sport too).
