Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering their country for any reason..... does Donald Trump have any Canadian ancestors?
The thread title should be 1915. The list left out the 2 biggest things, WW1 and the Suffragettes. Until the latter, prostitution was legal in most places. Most towns in the Northwest had several whorehouses each. No one dreamed of immaturely putting you into a cell for decades for selling some drugs. Freedom sure goes a long way toward eliminating the national debt. Taking away everyone's freedom makes an expensive police state. As for 45 stars on the flag, my father was born in 1911 and enjoyed saying he was born in the Territory, not State, of Arizona. I think it became the 47th state in 1912, and New Mexico that year or the next. So I think the 45 stars is wrong and was 48, but what do I know.
Yes, you are correct. In 1908 the US added their 46th star with the addition of Oklahoma. In 1912 the flag expanded to 48 stars with the additions of Arizona and New Mexico. And of course, that's where our flag remained till 1959.
