Frustrating game so far. D not giving them anything really. But a terrible play by Etem leads to their 1st goal AND a terrible change leads to their 2nd goal. Frustrating.

Let's see if the O decides to show up tonight.

Another PP goal against. Etem terrible pass on 1st goal. On ice for terrible change on 2nd goal. Takes the penalty for the 3rd goal. Good game for him...:).

D still having issues keeping the crease clear, collapsing way to early, no forecheck, no backcheck, no O. At least it is a 100% total team lack of effort ;)

I will respectfully disagree with you about the D. The Panthers have 13 shots through two periods...13. We have 0 goals. 1 of their goals was a PPG. The other was a terrible neutral zone TO by Etem. And the other was a poor change by us.

Not going to get on the D when the other team has 13 shots and we have 0 goals through two periods. I think we are just trained to blame the D now...LOL...even though to me I am way more concerned about the O big picture.

I would have to say with such a high scoring percentage by the opposing team, that is a direct correlation to poor defensive play. As I coach my kids at the various levels, I try to stress two way hockey to my forwards, clearing the crease and giving clear looks for the goalie to the D and gap responsibility to everyone. I understand what you are saying Chuck but I will humbly disagree per my point above. On a different tangent we have goalies. I don't look at GAA but judge them by save percentage. Don't get me wrong, that is not a jab a Hank because he has bailed us out over and over again this season.

Kreider should've just dress and not come back to the game. What an effort by him tonight and this tool in his contract year. If AV has any balls left, Kreider should be sitting in the press box for the next week.

Stepan another overpaid hack. Too many overpaid hacks on team now.

Tonight was not on the D at all dino. Not sure what else to say. We scored 0 goals and they had 18 shots. One of their goals was on the PP. Agree to disagree if you think tonight had anything to do with the D. The Panthers had very few good chances tonight. The D was fine. The O was the issue.

Chuck, I think it was a bad effort top to bottom. Not just the D, so we are in agreement the D can't be pinned for the loss by themselves. Speaking of the D, sometimes I just can't figure out the pairs AV puts out there and who he decides to play and not. I know we are all coach GM/Coaches, but at times, AV has me scratching my head saying, WTF man?

Etem 0 goals. Hayes 6 goals (0 in 16 games). Kreider 6 goals (1 goal in 9 games).

    Not good enough.

I have faith the D will continue to get better. I have zero faith we'll have enough O unless Kreider and Hayes wake up.

I think the D was fine.

When a team has 18 shots I cannot kill the D. When we score 0 goals I cannot kill the D.

If anything the O is to blame for the goals. The 1st goal was a terrible play by Etem and a weak back check by Lindberg. The 2nd goal was a slow change upfront. And the 3rd goal was a PPG.

I don't think this is on the D at all.

Sather has been an absolute failure here as GM. He redeemed himself somewhat in the last 4 seasons until he started giving out albatross contracts and signing idiots like Glass.

The only deal I have an issue with there is Staal. It was compounded when we dealt a lot for Yandle. That meant we were going all in last year and this year since ZERO shot we could resign Yandle with Staal here long term.

That is the one deal I want back. If we didn't resign Staal we could resign Yandle. If we didn' resign Staal we could have dealt him at the DL last season and added Yandle to replace him.

The Staal deal is the only one I'd want back. I want the Yandle deal back only because we have Staal and cannot keep Yandle, but if we could keep Yandle and get rid of Staal I would be fine with that deal as well.

I think this season is pretty much a waste at this point. This group cant get it done.
Chuck, like you said before a lot of hockey has caught up to them. This current roster is stale and I am not sure how they can fix it this season with so many idiotic contracts. Looking at the rest of the team, there are a lot of expiring contracts. They should try to move either Hayes or Kreider and Yandle this season. Find a way to get rid of Glass. These guys will be gone after this season for sure.
    Boyle
    Etem
    Stalberg
    DMoore
Yandle if he does not get traded during the season.

There are going to be a lot of forward roster spots to compete for next season.
