...only time I ever saw Mantle "flip his bat" was like that one when he knew he'd made an out...not like he was showing up the pitcher or anything.

Mantle never showed up a pitcher the way Toronto's Jose BOWOWtista does
    game in and game out.

Just as bad, worse in all of MLB-IMO, is Carlos Gonzalez....(but then I had to watch the assclown put his hand over his head like a Flag in A+ ball). Luckily the pompous peacock only hit 21 dingers in 104 games.

The louder boos in lieu of cheers from the local home crowd, became louder with each HR by the showoff. Kinda' surprising (in this era of diminished pride, sportsmanship), but proper to put a minor leaguer, even Pro in His place for rubbing a HR in the face of the opposition. WTF ever happened to rounding the bases like they've been there before.??? WTF happened to make taunting one's opponent too common place...???

...fwiw, Mantle also had a unique way of tossing his helmet in disgust after making an out.

They sure don't make Heroe's like they used too....!

I read your comments 59 on how it was The Mick that you idolized as a kid, me 3....

now when it came to my boys, they'd be outside playing in the front yard 15 feet from the open windows, when I was watching MLB.

One Son came flying in when he heard "Reggie Jackson" then an Angel, while the other had much better tastes, and came flying in when he heard Bob Shepherd call out Donnie BB's name & #....

the 3rd Son, he never left my side.....

...Baseball,...if you think of all the things that kids are attracted to nowadays, Baseball can't be the worst choice.
