bare handed, quick reflexes, one would almost think it was rehearsed long prior, yet I doubt it. Then again bare handed conditioning is often practiced in ST.

Now if this were Machado, he'd of had his back totally turned, with his cap over his eyes, listening to the approach and whizz of the ball, like a Lt. Col. Frank Slade blowing a cockroach into dust with his .45

    that's the ticket.....!

Remember the Dad holding his baby in CF, (forget where) and catching a HR with ease bare handed. NTM, several others usually holding a beer in one hand, catching the ball with 1 hand, not even a grimace of sting, tho' their beers become their shirts...

2 weeks of no gloves, "guys don't bring your gloves to practice for the next 2 weeks"
On a La. State Champion caliber Travel League Team, (equivalent to Pony Lg), we had no choice but to spend 2 weeks of bare handed catch beginning with warm ups, a day or 2 latter, fielding hard grounders, to soft line drives, to hard line drives, to literally playing simulated games, with NO gloves, not only to callous the hands, but to learn soft hands drills....a team that went 28-0.

We all swore we'd break our fingers if not our hands, swollen and blue hands, by weeks 2's end.

If a Coach tried that today, he'd probably be crucified....
