Did anyone else see The Daily Show last night? (On topic)

Trevor Noah was making a joke about how white Oregon is and said the black population in Oregon has a big swing depending on whether the Portland Trail Blazers are playing at home or on the road. Funny because the picture they showed of our team then heavily featured Plumlee.

Oregon is only the 20th whitest state. (In order) Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Iowa, Montana, Kentucky, Wyoming, South Dakota, Idaho, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Utah, Pennsylvania all have a higher percentage of white people.

 

Those are some white ducking states to be whiter than Oregon. I bet "Oregon Outside The Willamette Valley" would be the whitest state period.

 

Most states are whiter and more republican outside of their metropolitan areas, it's not an Oregon specific thing.

 

I guess you've never been "outside" then.

Noah should look closer to home to make implications of racism.

Oregon has 3.6% mixed race citizens whereas NY has only 2.4%. This clearly suggests we are far more accepting of the melting pot concept than bigoted New Yorkers ever will be.

NY hates American Indians (having slaughtered most of them over a hundred years ago), only attracting 1% per capita whereas Oregon has 1.8%.

NY hates Hawaiians to the point that Oregon welcomes 4 times as many to live here.

NY must hate veterans too, as we have twice as many per capita.

 

Where do you get that he was implying racism? Saying that the state is white doesn't mean that he say that the state is racist... You make some weird comments sometimes...

Oh, I get it, Oregon has a lot of white people in it. ha ha ha ha. He's hilarious.

I stopped watching that show years ago, doesn't look like I"m missing much.

 

Maybe it's changed since I lived in Klamath Falls for eight years. I remember there being 45 white kids in my grade from first thru sixth, with one black kid who was there for three years and one half-native American kid who was there for three. The rest? Lilly fucking white young republicans. Living there was a formative, negative experience in my life.

 

I didn't see the show. I wonder what point he was trying to make?

 

I saw the show it has nothing to do with racism.

 

That Oregon is hella racist and a white paradise?

 

I would not infer he was saying white = racist.

I would however infer he is implying white = bad.

Why else would he make a big deal out of it?
