Like this deal. I always liked Jensen. As I said before. The day I looked at Etem's twitter account I realized he was a moron. Hopefully, this signals the end of Tanner Glass. Scouting report on him. States he is a perimeter player. My guess is they wanted a guy for the 4th line with speed who they could groom as another PK player with some offensive upside. I suppose they figured they could shape him up defensively.

"Jensen can flat out fly, with an explosive first few strides, and great acceleration. His stickhandling is also very good, and he is creative when in possession of the puck. More of a pure scorer who likes to shoot the puck than a playmaker, he has shown flashes of improving his ability to read the play and take advantage of open teammates in his second pro season in North America. Despite prototypical power forward size, he is more of a perimeter player at times. He is effective in the forecheck game with his speed but his defensive play is inconsistent. He has a deceptively strong release that often catches goaltenders unaware."

I have no problem trading Etem. I thought he could have been successful if he got more top 9 minutes as his most frequent linemates by time on ice BY FAR were Dominic Moore and Tanner Glass, not exactly a recipe for success. But it was evident his hockey IQ is nowhere close to where it needs to be to play AV's system.

My problem is that if he didn't fit here and there seemed to be somewhat of a market for him, couldn't we have put him in a package to get back something other than another struggling former first round winger? I'll admit I don't know much about Jensen, but if you look at the scouting reports, we just traded for Etem's twin brother. Skill, size, skating, but dumb as a rock with questionable defensive capabilities and an expiring contract. I thought Etem might have looked good in a package for better winger than Etem II.

The ONLY thing I see here is that maybe Jensen is waiver eligible and we can send him down to get some cap relief. Other than that, I am unimpressed by Gorton's first trade.

I'm not sure he's getting recalled Dump. He's been in the minors. AV seems smitten with Megna as the 13th guy.

EDIT- Andrew Gross (twitter): By the way, Rangers will assign Nicklas Jensen to Hartford (AHL).

Well at least we have some cap room now. But honestly. Could Etem's value have been any worse before getting traded?

To me this trade was very impressive. The fact they got any pick for Etem was a miracle. Plus, they got back a first round pick in Jensen. I kind of changed the way I look at these trades. Etem belonged to the Ducks who are pretty good at developing young players like the Rangers are. Vancouver is horrible. Maybe the worst in the NHL at developing young players. What good, young players do they have on that team? None. They suck. So maybe, he can turn it around here. The fact Etem sucked for the Ducks and Rangers tells me he will never amount to crap.

Jensen is 22. So maybe a full year at Hartford will do for him what it did for Lindberg. If nothing else he got back a pick for a guy who has no dedication. Fast was a 6th round pick. You never know. Fast is an excellent role player on this team.

To show you how fucking stupid Ducks fans are they think the Hagelin trade turned out good for them. LMAO!. They paid 4 million dollars a year for an assclown in Hagelin who has 8 points and is a -14. Stupid bastards.

Not impressed considering the players involved.
I do not think Jensen has any impact with the Rangers
this year. Hartford, on the other hand, is desperate
    for contributors.

This was simply a trash for trash trade that gave this team a little more cap room if they decide to try and make a trade and bring something worthwhile here.

Right on 94. I don't expect Jensen to leave Hartford.

I do. Jensen could outplay Glass in his sleep. Maybe if our dumb fuck, worthless GM would get rid of this jerkoff Glass, we could have a real 4th line again.
