It can be argued the Yandle is the 3rd or 4th best forward on the team with the way he plays. As for McIlrath the fact V says Girardi is still a better defensive option isn't a great sign and shows he needs a good amount of work. Cause Girardi is pretty lacking.:)

He has 2 fucking goals in 41 games you assclowns are making him out to be Bobby Orr. He's always been a liability on defense. Stick that useless Corsi shit up your ass. It's as dumb as WAR is. Stack geeks strike again.

He's been better than Girardi and Staal this year. That ain't saying much. Much rather have Skjei and Graves going forward. Yandle has a poor shot from the point which is why he never has scored many goals. He's replaceable.

He's a 4th defenseman on a decent team. The return he would bring would be worth more. Now granted, I'd rather trade Staal and keep him but that won't happen because the Rangers are dumb fucks and act like nobody wants to play here and give everybody NTC's.

What the hell are you talking about? Who even mentioned Corsi?

If you think Yandle is replaceable by anybody in this organization, you've lost it.

Dump, Graves is still a developing player and not even in the top 5 organizational list-wise so who knows when he will even be in the NHL. You're hyping a 5th round pick way too much here. It's not like we have Duncan Keith being blocked. And while Yandle dosen't have a rocket he knows instinctively when to shoot as opposed to most of our other clods who do the opposite of what they should.

To me, Yandle or no Yandle doesn't make a difference. Staal MUST be traded. He's overpaid and he's an above average dman but he's afraid to be physical and teams know he will only use his stick and is afraid to use his body. To me, regardless of the Yandle situation, we have to get rid of Staal.

71, the only thing that this shows is that AV is braindead. Right now to any unbiased onlooker of big mac's work he is hands down better than the 2016 version of girardi

I love you mel, but do you post about anything outside of McIlrath. The D is not the issue right now, it is the craptasic O. We don't add more O we are going NOWHERE. McIlrath will get his chances. The O is a joke.

    :).

You will get your wish...I bet Girardi misses a few games with the cut hand, so McIlrath will play. That's why I am not too concerned about it, he'll get his chances.

Yandle rumors starting to swirl again so I just wanted to point out a stat I saw for discussion purposes.

Yandle is currently tied for 19th in scoring by a defenseman, with 23 points. He's done while averaging 19:06m per game. Every single defenseman above him averages at least a FULL THREE MINUTES MORE thann Yandle, with the exception of Shattenkirk who only plays 21:49 min a night (so a few seconds short of 3 mins more). In fact, out of the top 40 defenseman in scoring, Yandle is the ONLY ONE averaging less than 20 mins a game. And in Yandle's case, it's a full minute below 20. Not to mention that Yandle doesnt see first unit PP time.

If that doesn't show you (a) Yandle is an elite talent, and (b) AV is underusing him in a criminal way, I dont know what to tell you.

Prod- your analysis is right on the money. This organization did not have an offensive D man to play the point on the PP in many, many years. They finally went out and got one and have shit on him this year. Boyle has played well of late but his better days are way behind him. Mcd is another story all together. He was never a dominant offensive player in college and this organization has tried to make him the "go to" guy (just like Callahan was going to be a 30 goal stud) He is a very good defender but below average offensively, making many many bad reads. Yandle is an average defender but no one moves the puck like him and sees the ice like him. Absolutely ridiculous Mcd is playing the PP over him. Callahan might still be here if he wasn't so greedy but I'm thankful he's not. What amazes me is the love affair this organization puts forth to the guys it signs to long deals even if theyre stinking up the joint.

Very well said and I agree with all of it. The McDonagh part is very important. He's got some offensive and puck moving skills to be sure, but the knock on him, at every level of his career, was that he isn't going to be a #1 offensive guy. He's not a liability in that role, but it makes no sense at all to play him there over a guy like Yandle.

The bottom line is Yandle will be the one traded because based on our dickhead coach AV's playing time and use is he is a 6th d-man and is not getting 6 mill a year to be the 6th d-man. I liked AV when he came here but between his love affair with glass last year and this one, the total misuse of Yandle who you gave up a 1 and duclair for He is coaching like he wants to be fired after this season. Dylan and Yandle is a very good combo but once they pull the trigger on Yandle they should partner McD up with Dylan which imo would be a good combo.

This Yandle thing is funny. He may not be used well by AV, but that isn't the issue or reason we won't resign him. It's like you guys don't want to accept the way it is. As long as Staal is here Yandle cannot be resigned. That's it. We keep beating this thing to death.

People defending Yandle trying to prove his talent when I don't think many are questioning it...I know I haven't. He is a solid 2nd pair LD. His talent is not the issue. His skill is not the issue. The issue is there's a salary cap in the NHL, we already have a handful of dmen signed long term, we cannot afford to have yet another dman signed for big money long term...that is all.

Even a guy like dump, who hasn't been a huge Yandle backer recently, said he would much rather have Yandle than Staal, but we gave him a dumb NTC so we are stuck there. So no one is disagreeing that Yandle has a lot of skill. I actually haven't seen one person say they rather have Staal than Yandle, but yet we keep getting posts saying how good Yandle is, which is not the controlling factor driving him being dealt.

It is the cap...it is all the other dmen we have signed long term...it is not Yandle's talent that is the issue here. We ALL MUCH rather have Yandle than Staal...not much else needs to be said. And today I think he will be moved, but anything can change over the next couple of weeks.

I keep posting about what Yandle brings to emphasize that when you have a guy like that, with his skill and how hard it would be to replace him, and throwing in the price we paid for him, YOU FIND A WAY TO KEEP HIM. You do what it takes to keep this guy under control because guys like him don't become available very often and for good reason.

Just pointing to Staal's NTC, shrugging your shoulders and saying "oh well, guess we're stuck and have to trade him" is not acceptable. We might not be able to see the possibilities from our vantage point but I don't have access to 29 other GMs. Every time I walk into that money trap known as MSG I help pay Gorton's salary so that he goes out there and gets the best team on the ice. He needs to do his damn job and not take the easy way out here. Trading Yandle is the easy, obvious move. Gorton isn't there to make the easiest obvious move, he's there to ice the best team he can.

There are other possibilities here. Look into moving Girardi who has a limited NTC not a NMC. Call every team and get whatever. Play McDonagh on the right where he hasn't looked half bad. See if you can trade Klein and sign a cheap RH D over the summer. I don't know, I'm not a GM and don't have access to all these resources. But if the reports are true, and it's all but settled that Yandle is going to walk out the door, that is not acceptable.

My defensive coordinator in college, every time one of us were in good position to make a play but we couldn't get it done for whatever reason, would scream at us "FIND A WAY!" Used to drive me fucking nuts. But that's what I'm saying to Gorton now. Find a way and do your job. This defense next year with no Boyle and no Yandle will be absolutely dreadful at moving the puck. And our offense will be even worse.
