Kind of fun too. Ran skills test tonight, and typed them out as; two PG, one wing, two PF, one Center and one no show. Show them some plays out of the Princeton offense. By golly they had it running in the last half hour. Sort of surprised me, I didn't think we would get that far with nine year olds. One mother said, I am surprise to see them playing like this, I thought they would be doing helter skelter, like always.
You gota like a kid like the one I typed PF, he says, I rebound! All right! That will work!

The hour and half went by in a blink.

Good stuff, Sounds like you had as much fun as they did. Going to be fun for you and everyone involved to see how the young bucks improve over the course of the season.

Yeah, we will only have one more practice before a game. But that's ok, we will just run the plays until we get them smooth and then add more. Let the score board fall where it may for awhile.

That's a great offense. We ran it in HS. LOTS of movement. Lots of backdoor cuts.

We had the third practice last night. They can run all the plays I expect them to learn for awhile, one for each position to get a shot, plus the bread and butter, high five pick and high four pick.
Two good ball handlers playing guards, I will switch them between one and two every so often. Two big guys (including my Grandson) that you don't want to see dribble. One sort of in between playing wing. Two no shows.

We don't have enough on the team to scrimmage, makes it tough, so we will just use the games to practice the plays against a defense. One more practice before the 1st game next Saturday.

Well we need to reshape the system, simplified the play. We got whupped today 24 to 17. The coach learned about this particular game today too.
It turns out we played the team my grandson played on four years back and they have be playing together since that time except for grandson who didn't play the past two years.
They are pretty polish now with what they do. While you can't guard the ball in the back court, no zone allowed, and no double team allowed, the latter two are not enforced at all. Soon as the PG (either one) crossed the line they put three on the ball and a two man zone behind them. Could not get a play started. But we will have play to fix this by the next game.

Geez, I was surprise to find the games were so long, the kid were frazzled by the end, with only six players on the team.
