The patch was sewn on by his grandmother who had been featured prominently in the lead-up to the fight. Word is Cerrone knew he would be fined and proceeded anyway.

OT1H I get that the UFC's uniform policy is only going to work if they enforce it. OTOH could they not make an exception in this case given that they knew exactly why he was going to wear it?

The UFC has issued three fines (payment reductions) recently and word is all three may have gone to Cerrone. One for the patch, one for the hat, and one for a t-shirt.

I've got a feeling Cerrone's sponsors will reimburse him.

I really fucking hope Cowboy doesn't back down from this. Fuck the UFC. Fuck Reebok.

The other fines went to Nate Diaz and RDA, reportedly.

this is beyond idiotic in Cerrone's case. It's a patch from his old fight shorts that were of an American flag to honor his grandmother and the troops, not some loyalty to an advertiser who sponsors him. Common sense has to intervene in these case and stop being so $black$&$white$.

Cerrone even said in an interview that Reebok can keep that $ if they donate it to a worthy cause for veterans... he even said he'd match the amount in donations... problem is the UFC keeps these funds, not Reebok
