http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...kn/4440400.html<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Luther Head passed up a 3-pointer and immediately heard about it from Tracy McGrady.McGrady's reaction was in alignment with coach Jeff Van Gundy's insistence that the Rockets take open shots confidently, with 3-point shooting one of the keys to their offensive turnaround."Whatever shots we get, we take," said Head, the Rockets' most accurate 3-point shooter at 47.3 percent. "Mac and Yao (Ming) tell us to take the shots. If we don't take one, they get mad."(Van Gundy) says if we work hard enough to create that shot, you have to take it. That's my mindset."After sinking a season-high 14 3-pointers against Memphis on Sunday, the Rockets moved into a tie with Dallas for fourth in 3-point shooting percentage, making 37.4 percent. No NBA team gets as large a percentage of its scoring from beyond the arc, with 27 percent of the Rockets' 95 points per game coming on 3-pointers.With 247 3s on 667 attempts, the Rockets are on pace to take and make the most 3-pointers in franchise history.More pointsThe Rockets' scoring average is up 7.6 points from the same point last season, when they were last in the NBA in scoring and shooting. Their shooting has improved from 41.5 to 44.4 percent, and their 3-point percentage is up from 33.5 percent."I think it's personnel," said Shane Battier, making 41.1 percent of his 3s. "We have a bunch of guys who are confident shooters. It doesn't mater what kind of system you have; if you don't have the personnel to hit those shots, it doesn't matter."He (Van Gundy) is a quality-shot stickler. He'll never be upset at us for taking an open 3-point shot in the flow of the offense. Bad things happen when you pass up good shots. When you have an open shot, you better take it."With Yao out, the Rockets' 3-point shooting is a way to make up for the loss of their top scorer. But it also helps draw the defense from the lane to help create driving room, which in turn helps create more open looks on the perimeter.Opportunity knocks"We're going to get the opportunity to pump up a lot of 3s because Tracy's going to draw a lot of attention," said Rafer Alston, making 36 percent. "Now we've got Juwan (Howard) rolling, so he's going to draw a lot of attention. People are going to leave myself and Luther out there beyond the arc. And the more we get penetration, the more they're going to collapse, and we can kick it out to Luther and Shane."Alston has struggled with his shot recently, going 17-of-57 in the past four games (7-of-22 on 3s). But he said the Rockets' way is to take enough open shots to shoot his way out of it."(Van Gundy) expects me to shoot it," Alston said. "As long as they're good shots in the flow of the offense, he wants me to take them."Better still, this season the Rockets have made them.</div>Remember back in the day... 2 season ago.. when we made the playoffs.. we had all those 3 point shooters...Well, we're back. We have 3 players in the top 50 of Most 3 pointers made. Head is 4th, Alston is 6th, and TMac is tied at 49Head also shoots 48.7%... The only player who's better is Steve Nash, he shoots 51.7% and has made 1 more 3 pointer than Head.If we can keep this shooting up when Yao comes back, it'll be a great inside-outside combo
I love it when they make that three and put that 3-Point Sign with their hands. Just pumps me up for some reason.

Ahh, what memories.
