I agree that. I think we clearly need an star level PF, and I don't think he comes through the draft. Hopefully, an ace SF falls to us in the draft.

He'll drop because of his size (5'9" 180 lbs) but he does have a little Isaiah Thomas to his game:

I think center is absolutely our biggest need. Specifically an elite defender. We are so weak defensively right now and the quickest fix for any bad defender is a really good shotblocking defensive C. Plumlee and Leonard are laughably bad defensively.

Sadly, this draft doesn't really have any. One possibility is this guy, but he seems a few years away and might not even declare.

Sure we can always use a good center, but a lottery pick for one? No way. Sure grab this French dude in the 2nd round or even even late first rounds and develop him. But if we have to suffer for a season and end up in the lottery, try to get a player who can play at the end of games. Can this kid shoot? If he can't he is not a lottery pick IMO. Tired of fragile centers wasting the few chances we have in the lottery.

Centers are like RB's in the NFL. Sure you need a good one to be successful, but don't draft one in the 1st round unless he is a super star. You're better off with RB by committee. Because the chances of one of them getting hurt is pretty high.

We need a a 3rd scorer to get to the next level. SF is key IMO

Man for how analytic you are sometimes I wonder if we watch the same team. :)

First, Leonard hasn't been our Center, Its been Plumlee/Davis. Second, Plums D has been improving. Tracking the ball better. Has had some good blocks as of late. Davis's D is average at worst I think for a backup Center and he pounds the boards better than any out there. That's a fact represented in stats. How anyone doesn't see the PF are our biggest weakness is hard to understand.

This is called "damning with faint praise."

Plumlee is not playing for his D. He's playing because he's a very good passer and he helps the offense. Our offense is decent (yesterday notwithstanding), it's our defense as a team that is putrid.

Re: not getting a center in the draft. I'd be happy if we targeted Ian Mahinmi in free agency. He's a role player who's bounced around, but he's a very good defensive center. If we got him and Boban (and got rid of Leonard) I would be a happy camper!

Let's be honest, you'd be happy with anyone with a foreign sounding name. That's not exactly the litmus test for the franchise. :)

Same school as Elfrid Payton who's been a solid pick for Orlando. No knocking the small schools. Louisiana-Lafayette had a SOS of -2.28 (208th of 344) when Elfrid was there. Their SOS this year is -0.07 (167th of 351).

Interesting stats for Shawn Long. His raw numbers are darn good. 19.1 ppg, 13.0 rpg, and 1.7 bpg. Odd that his bpg have dropped from 2.7 to 1.7. His 3 pt shot has also dipped this year. His rebounding numbers have gone steadily up, and his fouls have come down nicely since his sophomore year. Probably the biggest 'down side' is his age. He'll be 23.5 when it's draft time.

Good find. There's a few red flags with him, but there always are with second rounders. My guess is that he doesn't get drafted. Most GMs are looking for 'upside'. With his age and small school, he is what he is.

Isn't Cliff Alexander our 2016 lottery pick big man?

You've been a proponent of Euro's for years. Very few of which play defense.

3 that I can think of. 1 soon to be drafted. I'd say Kelly Olynyk is a damn fine prospect. Most your Euro-trash guys are back in Europe where they always belonged. But I understand why its a subject you get snippy about...

You're more wrong in your assumption than you could possibly imagine.
