The team is old, soft and lacking in high end skill. Not a great combo really.

Well, Yandle is going but that is not enough. For some reason, Hayes just doesn't seem to fit here the more games he plays. Honestly, he's slow as molasses and the playoffs were way too quick for him. I think the Rangers would be wise to to trade him.

If they packaged him with Yandle to get Shattenkirk, I'm good with it. They could then move Klein to get a forward.

Chuck you need to stop just looking at the scoreboard, seeing a 3-0 score, and saying "welp this falls directly and solely on the O because we didn't score." This isn't the nfl. Offense doesn't just play offense, and defense doesn't just play defense. Girardi and Klein were absolutely AWFUL at moving the puck today. Staal, Boyle and Yandle were not much better. AV's system relies very heavily on the d to get the puck to the forwards who are looking to break out. It isn't as simple as just blaming the offense.

You know I agree with you that we need a top 6 forward. I've been saying that since draft day. But just because we get shut out doesn't mean the blame falls solely on the offense. We need our defense to be quicker and crisper with the puck. They were not good today. Neither was the offense, I agree there, but the d plays a role in that and you can't knock posters who call that out.

Yandle literally just got here and with his contract situation no one is going to be surprised by a trade.

Get rid of Kreider, or Stepan, or Nash, (not all, just 1) players that have been here forever and it will send fear through the rest that it doesn't matter how long you've been here or how much you make, that if you don't perform your ass is out.

It never ends. We have another dickless GM sitting on his ass and doing nothing. Tanner Glass being still in this organization is a proof.

I could live with that, but if you have to give up PB or Skjei even forget it. I don't think STL would do it without giving one of those two.

I guess we should close the doors and call off the last 30 + games. We are in playoff position right now, whether you guys like it or not we are, so it isn't like the team is terrible or buried, as some of you all like to portray.

I agree 100% we need a trade to add some O...I have said that for weeks and weeks. No one is arguing that. We need a trade to add a legit scoring top 6 forward. I couldn't agree more. No one is saying a little tweak, I am saying add a legit top 6 scoring forward. That is not a tweak. That is real change. It must happen if we are to have any shot. No arguments from me...and there never were any.

The only difference between me and many of you guys, outside of Mess and Prod I'd say, is I am not going to jump and go crazy after every single loss. We ALL know they need to make a trade, NO ONE DISGAREES with that. Now it is 100% on Gorton to make something happen.

Amen Prod. I actually think I said today the D has had issues also...I couldn't agree more. I am not in anyway shape or form saying the D is awesome and it is all the O...no way. The D is in the spotlight as well.

So I agree with you. BUT to me this is way more on the O than the D. And I'm pretty sure our D combined is one of the highest scoring D's in the NHL, so our D also puts up points. We don't score in big games against good teams and truthfully haven't for years. It has been an issue year after year and why we have to grind every single playoff game, and then get worn down in the later rounds and have injuries and get shutdown. Many times over the past couple of seasons we have all said if this team could score goals Hank would have cups by now.

So I agree the D is far from perfect this year, I will not debate that with you at all Prod. I agree they all need to play better. But where I disagree with most on the board I guess is to me the O is the bigger issue.

Seems most of you guys place more of the blame on the D. Even when we score 0 or 1 or 2 goals you guys get on the D, so have at it.

The way things are going it won't matter anyway, because if we don't start playing consistent hockey soon, D and O, we can all start talking about July.

And BTW I agree with your comment also 31. Deal Hayes or Stepan or Nash or Kreider. Put some fear into these guys and mix it up. I am on board with that 100%. We can certainly use a shakeup on a team that is stale and has been for a while. I won't argue with that.

My only points are to me, and I am in the minority and that is fine, the O is the much bigger issue than the D AND if we added a legit top 6 scoring forward I think we would see the team wake up.

BUT if we dealt one of the guys you/I mentioned 31 I would be on board with that as well, how could anyone not be at this point as all those guys suck it up.

It is the O... No! It is the D!...No! It is the D and the O! Who cares. We can sit here and debate for hours. The way this team is constructed, they are not winning shit.

Both areas have very glaring issues, so i don't even think you can say its one more than the other. Which makes it somewhat amazing they are even this high standings wise.

Sorry guys but we're going to the playoffs, and if you think you already know what is going to happen once we're there you are lying to yourself.

1994 was the best moment of my sports life. I hope someday we get to see another SC title. Hopefully it will be with Hank in goal.

Odds look long right now, but that is what would make things sweeter. Truth is Gorton has work to do. Who knows if he can do it. Takes two to tango. Hopefully he has some bullets to fire here. We need something.

At least, hank can say he got to the finals by a miracle. He can thank MSL.
