This is my biggest issue with him and players like him. I'm unsure who an ideal pairing is. I'd think he's much to slow to pay against most PFs away from the basket, so will be a liability against guys like green or griffin, etc. You want to pair him with a good defender, but as we see in philly, someone like noel, you'd also need that player to be able to play high post. Like Marc. I'd worry about a clogged lane as well, hurting chances for penetrating guards. I'm not 100%opposed or anything. Just unsure how much is like the construction of the team after
You still have to have two players (Preferably 3) who can handle the ball and create his own shot. Dame can't do it by himself, and even though I like Crabbe (and Wes before him) neither are creators on the same level as CJ. So IMO if you trade CJ for a "big", then you still have to find a second dynamic player to take the pressure off of Lillard.
Let's see how Okafor fares in Real +/-. First, let's go with defense, his acknowledged weakness: In DRPM, out of 77 centers, Okafor ranks 75th. Yikes, that's bad. But we knew defense was not his strong point. Surely he makes up for it with offense? Well, no. He actually ranks 76th in ORPM. Er, okay, how about Wins? And let's stop comparing him to centers - let's compare him to all players. Bad news: he ranks 429th out of 434. Never mind, though - he's still above Derek Rose.
If you scroll it back to 2013, Cousins is ranked 23rd. Now he's #1. I still think it's a good comparison.
Being the only guy on your team to do everything is silly...AD would not have that load in Portland..not wanting to see a Lillard/Unibrow pairing is puzzling to me..
Greg Oden wasn't going to have to do everything when he was here with Roy either... #Imgraspingatstrawshere
Also, we wouldn't see lillard/AD together much because Davis would get hurt too much. We didn't see a lot of Roy/Oden...
So you are saying there is a chance that Okafor could get up to 53? Woohoo! (Just playing by the way).
I mean... I wish I could scroll back further but it will only go back as far as 2013. I'd be interested in seeing where Cousins was during his first season.
lol. Riverman, you realize HOW I'm comparing them, yes? Injury Prone vs. Injury prone... not their skill levels. They are brittle.
Some might say the same about CJ ...he's had a few setbacks..probably missed more games than Davis without playing starter minutes
Well, that might be true, but: 1) CJ wasn't the #1 overall pick. 2) Acquiring Davis, with or without his injury concerns, would be EXPENSIVE.
Another way to look at it though is that Davis is last guy for them to think of trading. So if they did trade him he would ONLY be available because of the injury scare.
I just think of all the big guys who would impact the roster, Davis is the best fit and lacks character baggage..talent wise, I think Boogie is the best
