Will the Barton/Afflalo trade officially be the 2nd worst trade in frachise history? (After the O'Neal/Davis trade). Losing our 1st round draft pick and Will Barton in order to rent Afflalo for a quarter season(and he wasn't even that good).....that trade was far worse than the Nolan Felton /Faried Miller trade. Why does Denver keep raping us in trades? No more trades with denver!
Meh I can't really knock the Blazers tho for that. Say we didn't do that trade and we have the what if scenario of "well if we had gotten Some help we would have..." Plus you can show your team and former leader (LMA) that we're trying to help you guys here shoring up the team. It's all hindsight 20/20..
It made sense in that particular moment and for that particular time. In hindsight, it sucks. But, sometimes you have to take chances and strike while you can. Those chances don't always work out. I'm over it.
I tend to look at it as how good of a move was it time? No it wasn't a bad trade, we just ended up with the worst possible result from it.
In the 2005 draft, we basicaly traded the option to select Chris Paul for Martell Webster. We had the higher draft pick but we actually traded to get lower in the draft! Chris Paul...for...Martell Webster
We also got Jarrett Jack, whom we traded for Jerryd Bayless, whom we traded for Gerald Wallace, whom we traded for Damian Lillard. So, trading Chris Paul for Damian Lillard (7 years later) isn't so bad, is it?
Viktor Khryapa for Tyrus Thomas for Lamarcus Aldridge Gerald Wallace for Lillard Barry for Duckworth Bowie for Buck Williams Strickland and Grant for Rasheed Wallace That's all i can think of off the top of my head
I am happy for Will being successful in Denver, but it is not as if we lost an All Star. We easily could have offered more than Denver to get him back as a free agent. It is also not the end of the world if we lose at worst the #15 pick. It is an asset obviously but a good organization is going to find talent regardless.
i'm not mad at the trade, the blazers at the time were like one of the best teams in the league and made a trade of non-essential assets to secure a veteran backup SG to Wes Matthews for a playoff run. wes tore his achillies and that was that.
