    Excellent!
Keep up the good work. It appears there is more to be done. Get with Sly and consider how to get police policies and procedures changed. Perhaps you
can save a life or even a few.

Use the same logic, dude. Don't put anyone's life at risk needlessly.

Sorry but this is what I read, and the bullet hole also show the probability.

"Or they could have presented a drawing that in some way illustrated this critical cleaving in the story. Instead, we see Brown in a full bull-rush."

While the cop was not wrong by police policy. I don't think these policies are what they should be. The need to change.

So do the policies and procedure used in Burns. Too many people die by police gun fire.
    It is not necessary.

Technically, the Oregon State Police shot the man. Not the FBI.

    States rights. Local control.

The stabilized video makes it much clearer.

When I use my "Referee Vision" and look at this objectively one thing really sticks out. Our viewpoint is from behind. We have what's called a "closed look". So does the cop who shot him.

We're all looking at asses and elbows. And you can't referee properly with a closed look.

Number two, we are never to guess. Only blow your whistle if you know what you saw.

So, I see a motion that could be described as reaching.... But... Do I have definitive evidence that he was reaching?

Look at the video like a football ref.

Do you have definitive evidence that he was reaching for his weapon?

Upon further review I do not see a reason to shoot.

Now which cop shot him? It looks to me like the one who came out of the trees. If it was him, he CLEARLY does not have a view of the play.

And this gentlemen, is why Body cameras are so key. They give a "cop's eye view". A body camera would've had a way better chance to record the definitive evidence needed to justify lethal force.

It's 20 fucking 16. There's a video recorder on damn near every cell phone... Why, in this day and age, do we only get a helicopter view??

I'd wear a body camera when refereeing. That would actually be pretty awesome. I'd LOVE to go back and look at that video.

I think the only way we're going to stop cops killing when trying to arrest someone is to change to some sort of tranquilizer dart...I've said this for quite some time. It's how you bring down a bear or Bengali tiger. They must have a dose that would knock out a human. Watching that video again...he looks like he's got his right hand in his pocket the whole time....the militia protesters were saying he had his hands up...clearly that was not the case...he defied arrest..was the force excessive?...Sure...it always is but these are the times we live in.

That was not excessive force, that was appropriate force.

Also you want police to defend the public and themselves against guns with tranq darts? That's cruel and will only escalate violence. You want the cops to face death and the criminals to face being forced to take a nap.

Forest rangers facing a Bengali tiger or Grizzly bear aren't facing death? The tranq works for them

They have guns, but in the case of this guy...I'd have gone with a tranq dart as an option..they had him surrounded ..one of the cops could've hit him with a dart without getting anywhere near him...the others could have backed him up with live ammo just in case he fired at them or was about to

You're making a ton of assumptions based on already knowing the outcome.

The cops didn't know if Lavoy had a vest on under his coat, if the other people in the truck were about to get out and open fire. Lavoy is not following commands, he had already almost hit an officer with the truck. And you think the police should have shot him with a dart and then backed away to see what would happen?

I'm not making assumptions Sly...I'm proposing an alternative to killing a criminal when you really probably don't need to...and not just in this case..in a lot of cop shootings that have happened recently. I don't know much about tranq darts and what technique would be required...it's just an idea...not a platform
I have no problem with Lavoy's end...in my view he asked for it....I was trying to steer this thread into discussion rather than debate

You should send that idea to Kingspeed. I'm thinking a new cop show called Sleeper! The cop's catchphrase could be, "Nap time, mother fucker!"
