Several of my cousins have kids of their own. Does that make me their kids' second cousin? Here's what I always thought a "second cousin" was:Ex., my dad's cousin has a daughter. I always thought that daughter of my dad's cousin was my 2nd cousin.So... will someone clarify this for me? What is a 2nd cousin? Is a second cousin your cousin's child or your parents' cousins' children?
Seriously... I knew what a 2nd cousin is but now that you posted this I am all confused and I totally forgot.I think it's your cousin's child? Or your great-aunt's child?GWAH!
second cousin?nouna child of a first cousin of one's parent. Compare cousin (def. 1).[Origin: 1650?60] You are right, I guess I was wrong but whatever, 2nd cousin, 3rd cousing, who cares...
Main Entry: third cousinPart of Speech: nDefinition: a person with whom one shares two great-great grandparents, but are not cousins or siblingsInteresting...
In case any of you guys are wondering why I made a thread asking this, my dad told me that his cousin and her daughter will be spending the rest of winter break with us (until January 16th). I suddenly started thinking, "So my second cousin is paying me a visit...? No, wait.. My second cousin's daughter.. Umm..." I got confused and I asked my dad about it but he didn't know what I was asking because I was confusing him by saying, "Your cousin's daughter.. No, dad, I mean, your a cousin of a daughter..." Just confusing.
ok.. now im confused as hell.. I thought a 2nd cousin was a cousin's cousin... so is there a way to call a cousin's cousin?

No, I think it's like this: my dad's cousin is my second cousin because she isn't my father's sibling, meaning that she isn't my aunt. My dad's cousin, who happens to be my second cousin, has a daughter and she is my third cousin.
