After scoring 29 in the first half against the Clippers tonight, the crowd in Washington starting chanting, "MVP, MVP, MVP, MVP" for Arenas for the first time this season. Arenas is making a strong push for it and is easily in the top 5 as of now.

Gilbert is my candidate for MVP so far this year for sure. No one else has filled it up on a nightly basis like he has this year.

Eh, please. Kobe Bryant is my MVP. The dude can put up 40 a game if he wants to but is being more a team guy. I like Gilbert Arenas but he's a terrible defensive player...maybe if he put in half the effort Caron puts in the Wizards wouldn't give up so many points.

Did you see his last game? I forget it was against who but there was 4 seconds left and he walked the ball up then he nailed a three in someones eye to win the game

BCB, that article has no credibility, it's more of a joke. It says that Kirilenko plays defense with his face, thats retarded. Just for this game, Livingston has 9 points and Arenas has 3 steals. He's playing fine defense right now. "Doesn't pass", he's got 7 assists in mid 3rd quarter. And if you say Arenas can't be MVP b/c of that article saying he doesn't play defense, then I don't wanna EVER hear you say LeBron for MVP either, b/c he "doesn't play defense" according to that article either.

Nash is MVP. Period. Even Steven A. Smith said it.

No, Gilbert will Never get my vote, EVER... He is too arrogant in my opinion. I would vote for Lebron instead, lol, or Steve Nash.

Wow, he held Shaun Livingston to 9 points! What a big time scorer! And steals are a part of defense...some guys play the passing lanes more than others, it's risky...doesn't mean he's a good defender if he has a couple steals. Guys with long arms and who play risky defense have more steals than others.

Out of all the Point Guards of last year, players Gilbert was guarding at the time scored 16 ppg, that was the 4th best ppg against in the league. Now tell me he doesn't play defense.

Not many PG's in the league even average 16ppg...thats not that impressive...ok...so he's 4th in the whole league? What is the difference between #4 in the league and #15 in the league? Maybe 2 or 3 points a game...So thats really a small difference between guys....Just because your #2 in those rankings doesn't mean your really better than #5...because you don't always guard the same person and many times your 2nd PG comes in and plays for 15 minutes...I'm assuming so find the statistics...So...if I'm correct those numbers don't mean anything. Scouts will tell you that Arenas does not play fundamental defense.

I figured out a statistic that proves he plays good defense and you still try and say he doesn't play good defense. So what if it's not fundamental, if it stops his man from scoring, it's good.

I also watched him get beat by Boykins off the dribble a great many times earlier this year. Nash tore him up, but I'm not going to hold that against him. Nash tears up everyone in the league that goes against him usually. He hasn't shown that he can play defense to me at all.
