Around the league it's not being talked about because it's Milwaukee, but I want to post this here so more fans understand whats going on. Terry Stotts has benched Charlie Villanueva, he didn't even play or suit up for the Wizards game, and before that played 3 minutes. He's currently our 8th man coming off the bench. Stotts just announced that Brian Skinner is going to be the starter over him. Villanueva has been playing horrific defense but something else is going on... He has the talent to be a big time player but he lacks mental toughness, maybe all those scouts were right about this guy after all, he just doesn't have the killer instinct...or just doesn't care...It's starting to piss off Bucks fans that the guy we traded our starting PG for is not even starting or making a contribution...I am at a loss for words as to whats going on...I'm really dissapointed and confused... You have to give it up to Terry Stotts, not many coaches would bench a guy like Villaneuva, Stotts has stones.
I think he just needs some one else to take them under their wing and show him a few things. Charlie V has good potential.

Ouch I didn't know about the situation for Charlie Villanueva. We definetly won the Ford - Chucky trade. I always knew that Charlie was not a good defender at all since his college days at UConn. Thanks for the info BCB.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pacers fan forever @ Jan 5 2007, 09:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Charlie V does produce. I'm watching the Bucks game now and apparently Villanueva is having some tendonitis in his shoulder and had tests today...I still wish this whole situation would be more clear.
PacersFanForever your not BucksFanForever and your not RaptorsFanForever so you wouldn't know that much about how Charlie is playing.
It seems to me that he just plays soft defense for a big man, kinda like my boy Antawn Jamison

I thought he had changed when he got drafted by the Raps, and really started producing. Guess I was wrong, and so were a ton of people..He needs to change, he can be something great.

It was his best NBA game and he looked unstoppable.

Considering I watch 40 or so Bucks games a year and listen to many of them on the radio...yeah...I don't know what I'm talking about. Apparently it's some nagging injuries that are bothering him...but Skinner has outplayed him since coming back.

On March 26, 2006, Villanueva set a career high and Raptors rookie record for points in a game with 48 in a 116-125 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. His points total is the most by a rookie since Allen Iverson scored 50 in 1997.
Terry Stotts is one of the worst coaches in the league. The Bucks were crazy to hire him after his run in Atlanta. I'm not familiar with this situation, but I'd bet money that Villanueva will be in Millwaukee longer than Stotts. It's Terry's job to motivate him, so maybe a benching is what Charlie needs, or maybe it destroys whatever motivation he had left. It's a coaches job to get the best out of their players, no matter what that takes. Villanueva seemed pretty motivated in Toronto last year, so I'm not sure what's changed between now and then.
60 points. He was on fire that night, he wasn't THAT hot though.Hopefully this benching is for the best. I want to see CV do good, because he has no eyebrows.

It was his first head coaching job too, I've said that Terry is a bad coach but what he's been doing with our lineups this season has been positive and I like it. It's no coincidence we went on a nice winning streak when Villanueva was coming off the bench...Brian Skinner has been great with his minutes... I think it's more nagging injuries than anything but we play better with Skinner because he's a brute who hustles.

I haven't seen him play this year because Bucks are rarely on National TV so I have to go with what BCB posted. This happened to JR Smith last year and look at him now. But the one thing that JR had was better coaches (Byron Scott, George Karl).
