The Knicks are as everyone knows way over the cap but they do have all those players who don't play for them anymore contracts expiring after this year. That will start saving them money for the future, and for now still use that $5M exception maybe they can bring a player that wants to play in the city and not care all that much for the big dollars. 07-08 would be big for the Knicks if they could land one of these players.1. Vince Carter, New Jersey Nets - He said he wanted to play for the Knicks when he was with the Raptors and now he can. Sure Knicks are not close to giving what Carter wants but perhaps signing him to the exception for one year, they can sign him to those big dollars in 2008 when that expires.2. Gerald Wallace, Charlotte Bobcats - He is a real good defensive player, what the Knicks really need. They say Jefferies is their best defender well this guy is like double the player that he is. He is only 24 yrs old so get ready to enjoy his future.3. Andres Nocioni, Chicago Bulls - Another great defender who is a pain in the ass for those opposing players to deal with. You cannot understand enough that this is what the Knicks need cause it is what they lack.
Just what the Knicks need...More Guards. If they did have the cap room, then they should go for Chris Mihm. That would be it for me.

Gerald Wallace is the starting SG for the Bobcats. The Knicks have Crawford, QRich, Jared Jefferies, Mardy Collins, Renaldo Balkman, and Steve Francis. Why Vince Carter?
terrible ideasfirst things first...knicks are about 70 illion dollars below the capsecond of all...the knicks have to many guards...

The Knicks should not look to sign any free agents at all. They should focus on trying to get rid of all the giant contracts and ego-maniacs. They need to start fresh and rebuild with youth. The only players on that team I think they really should keep are Eddy Curry, David Lee, Channing Frye, and Renaldo Balkman. I really like Mardy Collins as well. Anyone else can and should go elsewhere.

I think I have only ever disagreed on you with one thing and its looking like its going to be a close call who's right on that one. Good one mate and its no surprise that you are the MVP!
I think we should go for a decent back up big man. David Lee is the only consistent player that can play PF. We need a shot blocker. Kelvin Cato is unrestricted next year. My list:1. Chris Mihm. His salary is up in LA. LA doesn't need him that much with Bynum on the rise for the top center in the league in a couple of years. He will bring shot blocking and rebounding off the bench.2. Antonio McDyess. He can bring low post scoring and more hustle off the bench to take the load off of David Lee. And bring Veteran Leader Ship off the bench.3. PJ Brown. Our team's free throw percentage has dropped alot from last year. PJ can hit foul shots 85% of the time and can be subbed and take horrible foul shooters like Eddy Curry to take the pressure off of Curry. He rebounds and can get blocks here and there.Honarable Mention: Miki Moore, Marc Jackson, Zeljko Rebraca. After this off season we lose ugly contracts such as: Allan Houston, Jalen Rose, Shandon Anderson,Mo Taylor. That is about $60 million off right there.
cato is a good shot blocker. in his limited minutes he is usually very effective. I don't think mcdyess is gonna wanna come here. he's been here before thanks to scott layden. I don't think he'll really help this team. he's way out of his prime and I think he can only go to a team that is a contender. while he is a really great role player, you know the knicks fans don't want pj brown haha. he was on the heat back in the day.
In my opinion, all the Knicks need to do, is to learn how to play together, and get rid of the dead weightPlaying together:t, anjamal crawford not taking 30 shots a night, running the offense through eddy curry, playing good team defense. rotate and move around instead of just standing their and watching the person with the ball.Getting Rid of the dead weightTrading or dropping Jerome James, he is prolly the worst player on the team but is getting paid like a franchise player. Trading Steve Francis, he is probably never going to be able to sky, penatrate, or crossover, which were his bread and butter, like he use to anymore because of his bad knee. And finally, im not sure if this is still an issue, but if it is, buyouut the remaining contracts of the players not currently on the team. Jerome williams and allan houston do not play anymore so they shouldnt be getting payed like they do.

They went after a guy like Jared Jefferies last year with the M.L.E. and he doesn't hurt, but doesn't really do anything but not be able to develop younger players like Lee or Balkman. He is solid, but I'd rather see the YOUTH getting the time.
