That had better be the case, because we shouldn't be giving up ANY asset in this trade. It's already a pretty weak haul for taking that stain off of CLE's books/court, but if we're sending something out - even a measly 2nd round pick - that's an even worse trade and it'll go down as another mark in the "Cons" column for Neil's work with the Blazers.

The only thing that could possibly make this a good trade is if LBJ decides to leave CLE before 2018 (if the reports are true that that's the first year we have rights to the pick).

I assume you waive Frazier because he is never going to be a case where you need continuous Bird rights, or something like that. Montero or Alexander could be?

Just like Steve Blake is the most-traded Blazer, Frazier will go down in history as the most-cut Blazer... as soon as he passes Chris "Baby LaMarcus" Johnson.

I agree that the value in the pick likely isn't for us to keep it until 2018, but to have a pick to trade for something that fits the window.

That space is and always will be held by Connaughton until he's gone.

Team option years can't be counted in the stretch, but non-guaranteed years can. If he has two years after this year, but the second year is non-guaranteed, then yes, we can stretch the 1 guaranteed year over 5 years.

It's weird, I thought that you had to have a player cleared (meaning it'd already been 48hrs) before you could fill that spot, and with the deadline approaching...I'll have to look this up

An interesting triviality: Pat is the least efficient player on the team, but going by Value Above Replacement Player, he's not even bottom 4...
