Still no word on the protection of this. Likely Lottery protected the first season and then less protected in subsequent years.
Considering they only have to pay 1/3 of his salary for this year, but the entirety of that salary goes against their salary floor obligations, they actually save 6M this year by trading for him. All in all, he costs the team $3M over the span of 6 years. When considering time value of money, he's basically free.
We can use Andy's full salary this year to count towards the minimum, so we are paying little for it.
Damn 2018 pick? Thats awhile from now, meh underwhelming trade. I was hoping IF somehow we made the playoffs we'd still be in the draft this year.. Ah well
Eh, only two seasons. I bet Boston fans thought the same when they traded Pierce and KG... Man like 3 years and look at what they're getting from the Nets lol
Yeah; have only seen mid to late second round picks sold for cash. Very different than 10 years ago when there were cheaper owners.
There used to be a day when all you had to do to get a first round pick was throw 3mil Robert Sarver's way and he'd cough up picks in a hurry. Now we have to go thru this whole exercise and take on so much $ to get a pick.
I don't think that'll be the POV in 2018. The farther away the better. We have enough young players now. Neil will be telling folks for the next couple of years how great the 2018 draft is going to be
The move we now need to make. Send Varejo/Kaman/Leonard to Phili for Okafor. Id even toss in Hendo to make it happen if that seals the deal. Is that enough to make it happen?
