Roy Hibbert has improved so much since his freshman year at Georgetown, and right now he's averaging 11.9 ppg and 6.4 rpg. He's 7'2 and 280 pounds, he has soft hands, and has a nice touch on his jumpers. Not to mention he is a BEASTLY shot blocker, averaging cloes to 3 swats per game. The downside of this kid is that he isn't that athletic as you would assume, and he isn't that mobile in the paint. What do you guys think of this kid? Does he have potential to be the next Alonzo Mourning coming out of Georgetown?
No he is the next Patrick Ewing. His defence is like Dikembe. I compared him to Dikembe and Ewing because they both went to Georgetown. I like this guys game. If he keeps improving every year in college, he could go as high as top 5 pick in the draft IMO.

The guy is not very quick or athletic, but he can block shots and score. Reminds me a more in relation to size/offense to Zydrunas Ilgauskas and not Greg Ostertag which NBADraft.net compares him to. His defense is very tough but nothing like Dikembe Mutombo like was referenced before. I wish he'd average more points, some team will most likely pick him later in the first round, a team that needs size/depth inside. Camps will be big for him or drop him.

I am a big fan of Hibbert, though. I am a Georgetown guy, and I have followed him very closely, and I have seen him play quite a bit. First of all, he is a massive person. He's 7'2'', but he's not a skinny 7'2'' like Loren Woods, he's a strong 7'2''. He has a nice back to the basket game with a soft touch around the basket, and he is a very good shot blocker. His defensive rotation needs a little bit of work, but he does have good footwork, so I think it will improve in time. I think he's going to be a good player, and I think he'll make whoever picks him happy, whether he comes out this year or next year. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The guy is not very quick or athletic, but he can block shots and score. In college, you don't get all that many plays actually run for you, it's a system and always a team effort in college. In the NBA, he'll get post iso's and he'll get plays drawn up for him. He doesn't get that too often at Georgetown. I definitely agree with you that he's more Ilgauskas than Greg Ostertag. That's pathetic.
Well it's just that he's shooting over 60% from the floor and you'd think the team would give him the ball more often considering his size. He's averaging pretty much exactly what he did last year.

He's not forcing it as much as last year (although he never really did force it all that much to begin with), he has improved his footwork by a large margin IMO, and he has solidified his post game a little more. He is getting shots off cleaner this year because of the positioning he's getting before he gets the ball.

Hibbert is a man beast, he's not very quick..but makes up for it in other categories, is he coming out this year?

And I'm not trying to brag, but I think I am pretty solid with evaluating talent. I have watched Georgetown quite a bit over the past couple years, and I think I have very good insight on Roy Hibbert.
