The guys on this roster have been together half a season....the guys that left here last summer had been here for many, many years..I think Dame has adjusted pretty well considering.
Yeah, chemistry will be fine. Dame knows Frazier was not a long-term asset. A friend, yes... but he's starting to realize more and more it's a business.
Listen Dame is not a bitch, he knows this is a business, shit the way he talks and conducts himself he might have a front office job one day hes not dumb he knows whats up.. This aint LaMarsha we talking about here
LOL! I don't know why, but this made me laugh. It was such a good point, but the wording just made me giggle.
Getting to the salary floor saves Paul Allen money, because instead of paying the whole difference to the players, you only pay the pro-rated amounts to the new players that get you to the salary floor. And an asset is an asset, even if it's not a great asset.
Mann LOL it pisses me off to hear OHH HES GONNA BE MAD BC FRAIZER LEFT.. Dame can call him anytime he wants and hang out with him whenever he feels like it, hes not a bitch he understands the business. I've always said Dame is one of the best leaders ive ever seen lead a team, he'll swag this whole move out better than Olshey the next time a microphone is in his face
This deal sort of has the feel of trading "one red paperclip for a fish pen" So nothing earth moving, but Neil came out ahead. I mean what the hell was Frazier ever really going to do here. Churning the bottom of your roster to get incrementally better is just solid management.
Which, unless they waive someone else on the roster to make room for Roberts, will have to be be today.
No. For Varejao, we got Cleveland's 1st and gave (our, I assume) 2nd to Orlando. For Roberts, we got a 2nd from Miami and gave...it hasn't been announced. I assume the 2nd we gave is ours. If it's a 2016 pick, and we drop below .500, we didn't gain much by trading the 2nd for Cleveland's 1st.
We don't have to "win now"; we don't even have to place now. We just have to make the playoffs now. That gives Denver our draft pick, freeing up the 2017 pick for horse trading come the summer. So yes, as far as it goes, "winning now" is making the playoffs. Our biggest weakness of the first 54 games is too many minutes for Dame and CJ, because Frazier couldn't hack it. As we head towards the playoffs, we know we have a good three-guard rotation with Hendo/CJ/Dame. But if we have a competent (and let's be clear, Roberts is -- by PER standards -- our fifth or sixth best player coming in) backup PG, we can rest our key guys more, and maybe get a win or two in the playoffs because we aren't exhausted reaching them. We'll know if we should keep Hendo, if a player like Roberts (but younger) is who we should pursue, and who on the team is going to deserve a seat on the bus. Signing Roberts is a simple move to shore up a weak position (backup PG) that could have more complex, positive ramifications into the future. Roberts isn't an end, but a means to discover the correct end.
I just checked and we don't own any 2nd round picks in 2016 or 2017. As of yesterday. So that's good news. By 2018 we'll be a better team, I think.
