Some of you are easy graders! Nothing negative about the moves - just nothing really positive either. Giving him a "C" (average) is borderline generous. Or maybe our fanbase has such low expectations that not egregiously screwing up is considered a cause for celebration?
If by not screwing up the 5 year plan is not screwing up, how is that not at least a B? He didn't do any head scratching moves, that alone puts him at the upper echelon of GMs by default. I like these moves a lot.
Unless you were giving a C- or lower if the team stood pat and did nothing then I don't understand how the grade can be so low. It isn't an (home run) A but it is solid B+ imo.
Let's go median instead of average. Please list all of the 15 teams that got 1st rounders for absolutely zero good players.
Please first list all of the teams that had $10M or more of cap space available to take on bad contracts.
So, you're agreeing with me? What we did couldn't be "average", only 2 teams even had the opportunity to do what we did.
A+ for me...we got something for nothing..there's just no downside to our upgrading the bench pt guard slot and getting a number one pick for literally nothing but a second round pick and a guy who couldn't crack the rotation
I don't agree with that. Its like saying cash in the bank has less value than cash in your pocket because one is expected to be used sooner. If I got a $1000 in each spot it matter what I ultimately do with each; not what spot its sitting in today. A distant first round pick can have less or more value than a current one. With the Cavs being the top team in the East this year I'd much rather have their 2018 pick than 2016.
No, it's like saying a $25 savings bonds costs less than $25 because that $25 value can't be realized until the maturity date. And that's true. I didn't invent the concept of time-value of currency, but I understand it, and it applies to draft picks as well. They're basically the currency of professional sports.
THIS is the guy we were supposed to take seriously when he said the Blazers would win only 23 games? REALLY????
It could be worse. We could be the Knicks entering trade discussions for Rubio/Teague with "let me tell you about this kid Kyle O'Quinn..." We got to the salary floor while picking up a first and second round picks. That's a win.
