I'm actually kind of bummed for Frazier. Not that he's all that great a player, but he just seems like a pretty good dude.
I just think back, Earl Watson, Steve Blake, Mo Williams, Eric Maynor, Ronnie Price, Johnny Flynn...all good guys and backup pt guards..Now Tim Frazier is on the plaque too.
Although, frazier actually did help win a game when he played something like 47 minutes when both Dame and CJ were out. I'll give him that at least.
At the guard position that was needing to be dumped...between Montero and Frazier, I'm glad we kept Montero...he's going to be way better than Frazier and Frazier is not a super young pup...he needs to start for a team overseas and get some serious playing time to crack an NBA rotation.
I agree. I have no problem cutting Timmy. I just thought I would give him a shout out for that one game.
I think this is spot on. Some fans point to the superstars of past decades winning but you look at the successful teams the last 5 years such as Spurs, Atlanta, Mavs, Nash Suns, Blazers last year, Pacers a few years ago. Those teams success is a sum of the parts. Compared that to the old rules where the Jordans, Shaq, early Duncan/Robinson teams had a superstar or pair of stars that trumped all. There are so many good players in the NBA now I think the difference between an average starter and a multi-time allstar is much lower. Look at Mike Conley; he's never been an All-star but honestly I could see OKC just as competitive or maybe even improve with him instead of superstar Westbrook.
Ugh. My poor poor memory. Nevermind then. He sure put in some effort though! Just let me say something nice about Timmy. ..hehe
There's no doubt we upgraded. Roberts has entered the NBA is sort of Wes Mathews fashion..hard work. I like that he's played a year and a half with Gerald Henderson and they'll play together coming off the bench..big time upgrade. We can play some serious small ball lineups with our roster.
He is definitely an upgrade over Frazier. He can definitely help to keep our starting guards fresh too.
I can see Stotts going from a 9 man to a 10 man rotation moving into the playoffs with Roberts on the bench...pace Dame and CJ's minutes a smidgen and integrate him into the system ...peak at the right time for a change!
