The tweets embeded in threads are in iframes. The iframe source is twitter's servers. They format the tweet and render into the iframe so it shows here. When they see a link in the tweet, like www.sportstwo.com, their server fetches the html at that URL and saves it on their hard disk. They show that HTML in the tweet iframe. Since the tapatalk plugin was basically first thing in the HTML, that's what twitter shows in the iframe - the ad. The tapatalk plugin is gone from the HTML. I showed you that a few times here. The twitter server fetched the HTML an hour ago before I took out the tapatalk plugin. That HTML has the plugin ad in it. So that's why we still see ads for URLs you posted already. The reason they fetch the HTML and store it on the hard dive is that if there are 50 people viewing this thread, there are 50 iframes (one in each person's browser). Rather than fetch the HTML from the link in the tweet 50 times (a load on the S2 server), they share the one time fetched version 50 times.
When I load www.sportstwo.com and look at the HTML, I see tapatalk appears twice. Here's why: The plugin isn't in the HTML anymore.
Right, like I said, it's a link YOU haven't tweeted yet. Mine don't have the ads. If I tweet a link you have already tweeted, my tweets get the ads. Try firefox or a different browser Clear your browser cache. It could be they cache the content of the page (with tapatalk ad) in our browsers individually. Clearing your cache and site data will fix that. Another browser would not share the cache so it should be effectively clear already.
I have cleared cache, I have used multiple twitter accounts and browsers. You've spent so much time and effort trying to blame me for this. First it was because I use Windows and Android, now it's because I don't know how to use a browser. Here's the deal, I will tweet the game thread tomorrow like I always do. That will be a new link/thread. If there is no Tapatalk ad that embeds in it I will then ask Kris at the Blazers to retweet it. If there is an ad I won't. Right now I'm going to go visit Lanny, who is in the ICU at the VA. It shouldn't be this hard to bring a problem to your attention.
I'm not trying to blame you for anything. Geez. I'm telling you where the clues point. It clearly was the plugin. I disabled it. Now it's clearly something cached for you (and me, it still shows me ads on your posts). Two sources of cache are twitter's servers and your browser. Maybe your ISP has a cache, too. If it were affecting you and me, it would be something of a global problem. The source is only your tweets and urls you tweeted before I took down the plugin.
You have to clear more than your cache. they could be fetching the tweet content and storing it in your browser's localStorage so they don't have to hit twitter or s2 servers for the content a second/third...etc., time. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/localStorage Clearing cache doesn't clear localStorage. http://www.ghacks.net/2015/02/05/how-to-clear-web-storage-in-your-browser-of-choice/
You were blaming me. Then you stopped doing screen captures of your tweets and instead posted your tweets in the forum and found I was right. Actually in private and in this thread I said we should disable the tapatalk plug in, that was the reason I made the thread. I told you where the clues pointed to. You kept telling me it was a Windows/Android problem. Again, I'm not trying to turn this into some debate or argument. The Blazers brought a problem to my attention, I looked into it, and when I couldn't find a solution I brought it to your attention. I think we've solved it. I'm very happy you decided to take the Tapatalk plugin out of the forum software. I'll clear all my caches and storages, I'll even rub a dead chicken over my computer in case Tapatalk has put a hex on it. But I'll just going to let all this settle, rest, de-hex, until tomorrow. I'm interested to see if Tapatalk replies to your tweet scolding them for embedding the fucking ads in the first place.
The plugin is gone, disabled, not showing up on S2 in any shape or form. Why is it my tweets of links you haven't tweeted yet don't have the ads? Why is it that your links do? Is this a global issue, or one related to your machine or mine? My tweets show no ads in the twitter app on the phone, too. Your tweets still show the ads. If twitter is caching the page content, they may never fetch it again so we're stuck with the ads on just those links you already tweeted. Try tweeting a link to this thread: http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/neil-olshey-appreciation-thread.240064/page-6#post-3829958 Neither one of us has tweeted it yet.
I think my tweet at @tapatalk doesn't show up in their timeline. I'm no twitter fan, so I don't know if they can remove tweets at them that they don't want others to see.
