Blue Jays signed Domonic Brown to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training as per Ben Nicholson-Smith.
...I'm sure Cashman and Girardi talk...and I'm sure it was mutually agreed that they were going to try some things during ST...including Refsnyder getting time...I mean, isn't that what ST is for?
Ron I saw it on USATODAY.Com click on sports and it's in the Top Stories, btw also said something of shortening mound visits.
^^^ Got it... (copied and pasted) The Chase Utley rule that governs what constitutes a legal slide on a potential double play along with a 30-second clock for visits to the pitcher's mound will be in place this season, Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association announced on Thursday. Under the new slide rule, “slides on potential double plays will require runners to make a bona fide attempt to reach and remain on the base.” The rule comes months after Utley, a Los Angeles Dodgers infielder, slid late into the New York Mets Ruben Tejada in last season's playoffs, a collision that left Tejada with a broken leg and a Mets fan base enraged. “Runners may still initiate contact with the fielder as a consequence of an otherwise permissible slide,” MLB and the MLBPA said in the news release. “A runner will be specifically prohibited from changing his pathway to the base or utilizing a ‘roll block’ for the purpose of initiating contact with the fielder. “ The umpire can rule out both the runner and the batter who put the ball in play. “Our goal in amending the slide rule was to enhance player safety, reduce incidents of injury and to do it in a way that respects and preserves the bona fide hustle plays that are integral to our game,” MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark said in a statement. “I am optimistic that this new rule will accomplish those goals." The plays are reviewable via instant replay as are so-called “neighborhood play” calls, which were not reviewable previously. The potential review of the neighborhood play – and the notion that an infielder must maintain contact with the base while a sliding runner intervenes – figures to raise the loudest objections from players and managers. "Somebody is going to get their clock cleaned,” Mets manager Terry Collins said, moments after the changes were announced. The 30-second clock for mound visits will begin to tick down from the time a manager or coach leaves the mound. The league has also cut the commercial break time 20 seconds between innings for both locally (the break will now be 2 minutes, 5 seconds) and nationally televised games (2:25). This is the latest attempt by Major League Baseball to increase the pace of the game. "You will see a continuing evolution of our rules in order to speed the game," Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said last September. "Things like visits to the mound, both catcher and manager visits. It's always been astounding to me exactly what wisdom is imparted in those visits, with all due respect to the great managers."
... ^^^ not much to it, Lil..."copy" links or anything else and you can "paste" anywhere........makes life much easier on the web...here ya go;
That may be true in this occasion but DAMN! it seems like every time I pick up the paper its saying things like Cashman said this & Cashman has decided that, According to GM Cashman blah blah b;lah. You'd think if nothing else Cashman could at least make it look like Joe had a little something to do regarding the on field decisions. Because like I said, from everything I read its appearing like Girardi is nothing more than Cashman's bitch. I'm waiting for the day when Cashman says something like "Nova will be one of our starters" Only to have Girardi come back with something like, "Nova will be starting the season coming out of the pen for long relief for now". Just saying.
...WTF?...I thought Fowler to the O's was a done deal. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/14843704/dexter-fowler-agrees-one-year-deal-chicago-cubs
...the Cubs are VERY deep in the OF...in fact, they're pretty deep everywhere. ...if the Yanx are sucking at the AS break with no relief in sight, I wonder if I took a page outta Rick's book by rooting for the Cubs too, would you MoFo's start calling me "Ronnie Two Teams"?...I'll bet Tote would, that cat is just plain mean.
...speaking of the Cubs' OF, how do you pronounce this guy's last name?...6 letters, only 1 vowel ; http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/31337/matt-szczur
