We're not mentioned in any of the stories, I've read. I've seen him linked to: CLE BOS ATL MIA HOU OKC That's six. Not sure who the 7th team would be. DAL, MEM???? BNM
Why does it always have to be "playing veterans will stunt the growth of our young guys!" How much have they learned from Kaman? How much have they learned from Hendo? Frankly, Aminu isn't a kid anymore, so I don't see him developing a ton. I'd rather our guys get some good playoff experience. Give them a chance to see how to win.
Aminu is the same age as Damian...since when does 25 make you old? I think Aminu has barely started entering his prime...
It depends on the veteran. Are you bringing in PA? NO. Your bringing in a guy who has been severely slipping over the last two years. I do not want to swap a guy on the upside for a guy on his downside. IF there is a guy in his prime, sure, consider it. But lets not move young up and comers for guys who will be less of themselves each year moving forward. Also, How many minutes does Kaman get? Also, I think its a stretch to say Hendo has helped our youngf guys. He has only been on the rster since the off season and was a late addition due to being injured the first month of the season ( recovering from surgery) Maybe he was help verbally off the court, but our young guys have not learned form him on the court... im pretty sure of that. I get what your saying and depending on the player, Id be all for it. But lets not make moves for huge X factors. Lets make moves that have probable outcomes.
Dame has consistently gotten better and better every single year. We haven't seen his plateau yet. Aminu hasn't really improved much. His scoring is up, but everything else is pretty is pretty much exactly the same. He isn't going to magically take some huge leap next year, or the year after. He is what he is, which is a role player. Johnson provides something that we don't currently have; a post scorer. He's someone you can give the ball to in the post and he can score on smaller guards. He's a guy who has been there, done that. We don't have a lot of guys like that right now.
How much of his salary would the Blazers have to pay? I could see doing that if we had an injury or a big hole at 2/3. But we don't, so I wouldn't bother with him.
Cleveland is logical but man he would help in the 4th. Dame-CJ-JJ-Hark-Davis would be a sweet close out unit.
The Rockets shut down the perimeter and we had zero answer. In the past we would have posted up LMA and spread the floor. We can't do that with this roster.
Harden just destroyed our wings. Crabbe, CJ, Hendo.... they were all getting smoked. Should have had Aminu on him the whole game. Or Hark.
Hell no! I wouldn't be interested in Joe Johnson at all. The main purpose of this season is player development and seeing what players fit with Damian long term. I want to see our young players get opportunities. They need to be allowed the chances to make mistakes and get offense on their own. If they have failures so be it but we won't know until they are put in those situations. Joe Johnson has 2 blocks the entire season. He has 2 dunks in the last four years. He is a washed up version of himself similar in name only; his play is closer to Kobe brick Bryant than a quality starter and I have zero interest in that type of player. I'm not sure Joe would be a superior option on the court even if our young players struggle. There's no time to practice or teach him our schemes. It would be a slap in the face of all the work these guys have put in since September if Joe gets handed opportunities without earning them. Even if Joe would help get a few wins I'd rather see players in that role who are under the age of 34 and have a chance of being part of this core long term. Hell Chris Kaman is younger than Joe Johnson.
Not advocating for Johnson, but it should be noted that we're probably the only playoff-positioned team that still has cap space, meaning we're probably the only team that could offer him more than the minimum. Don't know if that's a consideration for him at this stage, but at least something to keep in mind.
BGD, the correct Yiddish dis here would be: Developer Schmeveloper. I'm disppointed with your lack of attention to detail.
Is it interesting at all that he was cut right after playing here in Portland? Could he have met with Olshey? I know he gave up 3M to be bought out...maybe he'll make that back up with Portland
The Miami Heat expect to sign former All-Star guard Joe Johnson when he clears waivers, sources tell ESPN's Zach Lowe.
