^^^ I haven't been to the new ball park yet but people have told me that even if you get less than great seats, there are many places around the stadium you can walk to and watch from...(restaurants, etc)

When last going to the old stadium between '81 and '85 I used to get upper level 1st Base line Tix. Really great view of all action there in the current unit the prices are at 4 C- notes + per game. The current unit is a gem but the chances of me getting up there for a game are slim to none because of the overall costs.

In the day and age of new stadiums this is unfortunately the consequence. It's funny you post this Rick because I was actually thinking about the old stadium and going to games there yesterday. These days I'm spoiled because my brother works for Wells Fargo and my brother in law works for a division of CBS. I usually go to a handful of games a year in awesome seats for free so I can't complain. With that said I do feel very badly for the guy who wants to take his family to a game and has to spend a small fortune to do so. Just some basic numbers for a family of four these days. Lets just say you want to go $60 a ticket. That's $240 bucks and if you add the ridiculous parking on top of that you're at $270-$280 just to get in the building. Then there's food and if you want to buy your kids anything you could easily shell out another $200. Add in gas and tolls somebody can spend $500 for a day at the ballpark with their family.

By comparison before he passed away my father in law and I had a couple of seats for the Saturday plan at the old stadium for a few years starting in 2003. I believe it amounted to twelve games over the course of the season. We were field level on the third base side half way between the third base bag and the left field foul pole. Really good seats plus we were covered which was awesome on the ridiculously hot days. Anyway, if I remember correctly for two seats and twelve games it came to about $950. Plus, parking at the stadium was much less expensive and food inside was nowhere near the absurd prices you see now. $11-$12 for a beer is just insanity.

And what also kicks my ass Vic is that currently the team payroll is around $220M & I'd bet that even if the Yankees were to get there payroll down to say $150M the current prices would remain the same. The fans are paying the price for these bloated contracts & even when the payroll goes down, we still pay. I know its a business but its a damn shame that the fans are the targets of there greed.

Unfortunately, these stadiums have to get paid for somehow and owners have found ways to get it done. Take the NFL and the seat license situations. New York Giant and Jets fans who had seats for years were either forced way upstairs in the new stadium or had to give up their seats. They just didn't have the thousands to plunk down on the PSLs plus the cost of the tickets themselves. Honestly, when it comes to sports I get to the point I'd rather just sit home and watch it on television.

Wow, now that's the way to take in a ball game....and I was wondering how much Field Level Seats at YS, were going for....

In Chavez Ravine in 86, I had a buddy with Field Level seats, 7 rows from the field, right directly at the 1st base bag, incredible to hear the chatter on the field, and even in the dugout.....

More impressive to hear Goose Gossage (A Diego Padre) pop, pop popping the Catchers glove, and Welch living at the knees, as crazy was Garvey (also a Padre by then) stretching out behind 1st base in the grass, with a shit load of ladies with bee hive hairdo's calling out in a high pitch voice, Gaarrr-vveyyy, heya stevey....fkng insane, it never surprised me he was cheating on his wife....

Overall costs per tix: A staggering $8 bucks, when Angels seats in the same place, were going for $50-75$....

I too have not been to the new YS, last game was in 08, courtesy of my Son's Bail Bondsman....(that's a joke)...

never had a fear of heights, not until I fell off the roof of my house at the apex, going over backwards at 15 feet, lucky to be alive to talk about it.....prior to that incident, I loved nothing more than to stand on the edge of a Rocky Mt. or Sierra NV mt cliffside, with no fear....

I have no fear of flying tho'....

Now, if I'm walking on the sidewalks of Century City, or downtown LA, I get Vertigo just looking up at those skyscrapers....seriously...!

Last time I sat in 'nose bleed' seats, I made a fool out of myself, (I've only sat in those seats 1 time). The thing I despise about the upper level mezzanines, is a infield high fly ball out, looks so often like it just may be a home run. One game in particular, I swore was a goner HR, and stood up in excitement, applauding a (pre-mature) HR, that was indeed a high infield fly ball out....I slid down in my seat after that, and those 'nose bleed' fans thought I was an idiot......oh well..!

Rob your not an idiot, Canadians are just crazy. My friend Jennifer is just like you, and yes Vertigo is a horrible disease nobody understands what I go through especially when I'm stressed out. I get high fevers and sometimes bed ridden for days, but like you I have a positive outlook and am always happy and crazy too. :breakdance:
