I don't at all Dis. I respect peoples right to have that opinion, but I respectfully don't understand it AT ALL.

We did NOT give up a 1st.
We did NOT give up Skjei OR Buch OR the top goalie prospects OR Graves OR Gropp.

We gave up a solid prospect who is a few years away AND two late 2nd round picks. That is really not much.

So I really don't get how anyone could be down about this. This isn't even 1% close to what we gave up for Yandle...not close.

Staal Nash Hayes Kreider. We all know Nash plays like a puss in playoffs but that's some nice size

im more interested in seeing this team compete for the cup than seeing if a 3rd rounder pans out 3-4 years down the road when Hank will be near retirement

It's a moronic point and shows how fucking stupid you are. With that thinking, Hank would have been dealt because he was a 7th round pick who dominated his league like Saarela is doing. Try again

Yeah, this is a flat out awesome deal. Kept Hayes around, get a big time forward which they desperately needed and no 1st and only Saarela who could be good but time will tell. Dosen't matter, that's not till 2019 and you know Clark will hit on a bunch more in the future. On top of that perhaps Staal likes it here enough to make resigning his main priority. Great job by fishsticks getting it done.

How many of these guys over the years have been hyped up and amounted to dog shit? Nobody has any idea what Saarela will be or what the future holds. We had a major prospect drop dead on the damn bench. Hank and this team needs to make every strong playoff run they can. It's a crap shoot and they need to be in the best position once it starts in April.

There is absolutely no justification for giving up a guy who has been one of the top prospects outside the NHL this season and 2 second round picks. It's just dumb. That being said, a lot of things could happen. One, Staal has little to play with over there. So maybe he remembers how to play and doesn't suck. Two, Hayes will no longer take draws. He sucks. Three, it frees the Rangers up to deal Hayes if they wish. He's lazy and dumb. We have a player like that. His name is Kreider. We don't need 2. Four, if he's not shot and still has some game left, I doubt he goes back to Carolina who won't make the playoffs for another 3 years. He might take a discount to stay here.

In the end, this team has basically given away almost all of its future the last 3 years. That's just fucking stupid. It can't be argued.

No 1st. None of our top 3 or 4 prospects. Keep Lindberg and Hayes. Add the big forward we clearly have lacked. I personally think we resign Staal, but either way still a HR.

I just don't get how someone could be down on this deal.

Maybe Saarela is good in 3 or 4 years, but who knows really. And in 3 years Hank will be 37.

    717. You are lost and are living in the past. Look at the insane number of prospects the Rangers developed over the past 10 years without tanking. Last year they developed Hayes, Miller and Fast and won the Presidents Trophy. This year they are developing Lindberg and McIlrath. They were also developing Duclair last year. Skjei a little this year. The year before that they developed Kreider and helped Pouliot break out. I think the days of Rangers prospects being over-hyped are over. There is a reason other teams continue to ask for these guys. They know the Rangers prospects are good and the Rangers are dumb and will trade them.

Staal has a good 4-5y left, and being on a playoff team with his brother you know will rev him up. Oh, Eric i meant.:)

I don't know how you can say that dump when we didn't deal a 1st or our top 3 or so prospects.

Plus Staal will be much better playing with a team that actually has talent. Until this season he was good for 20 goals and 60 points every season on a terrible team with little talent. And I do think he resigns, unless it is a disaster here.

And he is very good on face-offs, something many of us have been concerned about. Moore and Staal can take many of the big FO's now.

    Excited.

And BTW dump...ALL the prospects you just mentioned are still here outside of DuClair. And we have Gropp and Buch as well, and the goalies you like. None went for Staal. No 1st went for Staal.

The Rangers have 3 goalies who are top prospects in the minors. The late rounder Huska may be the best of them all. I'm not worried about they replacing Hank. Crawford is not half the goalie Hank is. Neither was Cam Ward. Or Fleury. Or Tim Thomas. Quick is good but he's not as good as Hank. Teams win cups. Not the best goalie in the league. If Hasek couldn't win until he was a relic, that should tell you something.

Not if you are in charge Chuck. With your dumb thinking, you'll trade them also. You sucked off the St. Louis deal. It was a complete failure in the end. You sucked off the Yandle deal which has been a complete failure so far. Now you are sucking off this deal. Yet, you still can't grasp what is wrong with your thinking and the organizations.

No, not the past. I'm living in the now which exactly where this current team is. They have a few prime years left with the greatest goalie in franchise history and the time to win is now. Not 5-7 years from now when the entire makeup of the team will be different.

The Rangers usually do better drafting in the 3rd round and beyond anyway.

If you can dismiss Lundy that easily there's really no reasonable debate or conversation to have. Give the Rangers Crosby and Malkin and then maybe your point about the Fleury's of the world will hold some water.
