I doubt thats his ancestral name, it just sounds too corny to be true. And even if it's not true, the rest of the video is good and pretty much shows how much of a con artist he is.

I don't understand why the name was brought up (even in response to his comment about Jon Stewart changing his last name). It' was unnecessary, imho. Not "that's in bad taste" unnecessary, but not funny unnecessary.

Latest in Trump Twitter: Misquoting Gandhi

The Donald got in some hot water the other day for retweeting a Mussolini parody account with a quote from the fascist leader. Trump said over the weekend that it was a good quote, regardless of who said it.

On Monday, he tweeted a quote attributed to Mahatma Gandhi: “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they attack you. Then you win.”

However, as The Christian Science Monitor has reported, there is no evidence Gandhi ever said that. In fact, it likely came from a socialist leader’s 1918 address to a clothing workers union.

Frederick Trump (March 14, 1869 – March 30, 1918) was a German-born American businessman. He was the father of Fred Trump and John G. Trump and grandfather of businessman Donald Trump. Trump made his first fortune operating boom-town hotels, restaurants and brothels[3] in the northwestern United States and western Canada.[4]

Born with the name Friedrich Drumpf,[1][2] He was born in the Pfalz town of Kallstadt, where his family worked in a vineyard, to Christian Johannes Drumpf[5] and Katherina Kober[6][7] (Trump's son Fred later denied his German heritage, instead claiming his father was a Swede from Karlstad).

In 1885, at age 16, Trump emigrated to the United States aboard the steamship S.S. Eider, departing from Bremen, Germany, and arriving at the Castle Garden Emigrant Landing Depot in New York City on October 19. U.S. immigration records list his name as "Friedrich Trumpf", last place of residence as "Kallstadt," country of birth as "Germany," and his occupation as "farmer".[8] In New York, he worked as a barber for six years.[4]

In 1891, he moved to Seattle, Washington, and established a "decadent" restaurant[9] known as the "Poodle Dog" (identical in name and format to a restaurant in San Francisco).[10] It was around this time that he changed his surname to Trump and anglicized his first name to "Frederick" and became a naturalized United States citizen.

Gee, immigrants changing their names when they come into the country to avoid persecution. Yeah, let's mock that.

I think its this kind of attitude that has people gravitating towards Trump. Again, I kind of want him to win just to see people freak the fuck out.

    I see shit like this:
"I hope none of my facebook friends are voting for trump"
"Unfriend me if you're supporting Trump".

How about fuck you (not you personally, just people in general), shut the fuck up I don't care about your funny links, and let me choose who I want to vote for. I think people have a lot of disgust for the media and these comedians/commentators with their holier than thou attitudes and snobbery, and again, want these people to lose their shit.

    Man fuck Donald Drumpf...

And choose who you want for president. Nobody's telling you to vote for. In a country that allows free speech you can say whatever the fuck you want about Drumpf.

I really don't get the joke here. His family had their name changed when they immigrated, which was a very common practice back in the day. I don't really find it something one should really mock. Should we mock African-Americans who changed their slave names?

I guess I can see that if you're a stubborn contrarian but it's still kinda ridiculous to me. I'm more amazed that people hear him talk and think of him as tough or smart or honest. I see and hear nothing but an ignorant, weak-minded, ego-maniacal douche bag. He seriously talks like a complete idiot.

It's a joke because he mocked Jon Stewart for not using his family's extremely Jewish last name. I think you're reading too much into it..
