So, over the holidays I went to two Butler games. Butler is ranked #13 in the nation. It was beautiful both times. The games were played in historic Hinkle Fieldhouse (you may reconize it from the movie Hoosiers) and the crowd was extremely supportive. In the first game Butler was undersized but they played outstanding defense forcing the two big men on the other team to foul out. Butler moved the ball around until they get a good shot. They are unbelievable shooters (of course, they're all white kids from Indiana) and pass the ball around like a 1950s basketball team. The way they trust each other to make plays is unbelievable and they always make the extra pass. utler is lead by A.J. Graves (6'0" averagin 17 ppg) and Brandan Crone (6'6" around 12 ppg), they also have an excellent point guard who rarely makes mistakes and can always be counted on to handle the ball. Butlers's tallest player is 6'7" but he's about 280 pounds and focuses on playing strong defense and grabbing every rebound. Off the bench, Butler has several 6'6" shooters who can all play defense and score. The second game Butler shot like 60% from the field. They drained almost every three pointer and won by 30 points. This is the team that is bringing old-school basketball into the modern game, and it's working. Everyone here in Indiana is proud of our 13-1 team that has continually won (they won the NIT preseason) and is rising up the rankings every day. Just a small 5,000 people college dominating college basketball. I'm really excited. And yes, Butler is division 1.Do any of you have any local colleges that are playing really well this year?
