That does seem to be our lot in life. Which makes it even more important that Olshey has maneuvered our massive cap room.

Maybe signing Parsons would mean they wouldn't make a big mistake on Leonard. I don't know what kind of cash Crabbe would be offered, but I don't know that I'd pay him a starter's salary either.

Crabbe has really fallen off in the last few weeks. :( It's sad.

Crabbe is seriously slumping on offense...I've been disappointed in him last couple of games but he does play good defense. We can't win many games with only two guys in double digit scoring..we need that off the bench to compete and most of the season he's had that spark. Aminu is a great defender but hasn't had close to a double digit game for a few games. Hopefully it's just a slump.

If Crabbe can cut down on the silly fouls (like on the Lowry 3), then he can become a great defender... right now, he's just good to average. :(

See I think it's not so much silly fouls as aggressive defense..Crabbe gets right in their grill and some refs let you play and some don't. I like the aggression on the perimeter

The play I'm talking about, though, seems to happen once a game it seems. On the closeouts, he -is- too aggressive on the closeouts. However, straight up man to man perimeter D he is fine.

Crabbe has always been an average defender with the potential to be pretty good.

When I pointed out that he fouled too much and people told me it was no big deal.

Growing pains. We get him cheaper, and he puts it together more consistently next season.

I'm shocked how often I look at a box score and Aminu has 2 or 4 points. I get that he does other intangibles, and plays pretty good defense, but he's kind of a liability at times, especially when he decides the dribble or drive the ball. I'd love to have Aminu coming off our bench behind a better small forward.

Gallanari and Parsons are better than anybody in our team not named Damian Lillard and Cj McCollum

I'd MUCH rather pay Parsons 20M than pay Crabbe or Meyers over $13M per year.

Your definition of garbage is different than mine, I guess.

His averages have gone up every single month since he came back from injury. His averages for last month were 18, 5 boards, 2 assists. This month he's averaging 22.5, 6 boards, and 4 assists. Plus he's shooting very efficiently.

I would take him in heartbeat.

The Blazers will (potentially) have space to offer a max contract.

The estimated Max contracts will be:
0-6 yr NBA vet, 25% of CAP, $23,000,000
7-9 yr NBA vet, 30% of CAP, $27,600,000
10+ yr NBA vet, 35% of CAP, $32,200,000

I think the Blazers biggest need is a third scoring option, preferably from SF, PF or C.

One of the nice things about Chandler Parson's is that he's only 27 with 5 years in the NBA. He'll fall into that $23M max range. Wow, that feels like a lot of money.

Here are the unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2016 that are SF, PF or C that I'd be interested in:
    (max)
    - Kevin Durant SF, age 27, 28.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 4.7 apg
    - Chandler Parsons SF, age 27, 13.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg (it hurts, but someone will pay max)
    - Ryan Anderson PF, age 27, 16.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg (again, it hurts to pay max)

    (75% of max)
    - Hassan Whiteside C, age 26, 13.0 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 3.9 bpg (somebody will probably pay this guy max)
    - Al Horford PF/C, age 29, 15.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg
    - Nicolas Batum, SF, age 27, 14.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.5 apg
    - Dwight Howard PF/C, age 30, 14.9 ppg, 12.0 rpg (somebody will probably pay him max too)
    - Pau Gasol PF/C, age 35, 16.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 1.9 bpg

    (value pickups)
    - Kent Bazemore SG/SF, age 26, 12.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg
    - Ian Mahinmi C, age 29, 8.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg

With the spike in the CAP, my guess is all the guys in my middle category will probably be getting max. Neil Olshey hasn't shown a trend of overpaying for a player, so I'm guessing everyone in that middle category is scratched off.

Most likely we end up with a few value signings this summer, then focus on getting our 3rd scoring option thru a trade.

I would take him too if there was no such thing as the cap limit.
Player like Galinari or Parsons are not legit players to build your team around, they get injured a lot and they are too pedestrian to do anything meaningful in the league.

    upload_2016-3-6_12-5-9.png

For that small difference we need to give this guy like 30% of our budget?
Keep in mind Parsons is the 2nd option for the Mavs while Crabbe and Aminu are like the 4th and 5th offensive options for the Blazers.

I liked your post but disagree slightly. Crabbe is our 3rd option. (Though when I play on 2K I have Vonleh averaging 12 ppg).
