...Hal calls the shots...and that likely includes any possibility of the team being sold. But if the team were to be sold it would make sense to wait for the franchise to be on the upswing to increase the value.
Bingo ...^^^ everyone has their price, and I doubt Hank is any exception to this rule, he too shall sale when the price is right, at least I fkn hope he does, so we can get back to Yankee Dynasty Baseball once again.... His Dad would probably disown the little rat...no balls...
The Steinbrenner Tadpoles ownership in conjunction with dork Cashman as GM I'd have to believe that the only button on the Yankees elevator is down.
Over the next 2-3 years you're going to witness a complete over haul to the team & God willing, for the better.
Not sure why there seems to be such a clamor for Hal and co to sell the Yanks nor the mistrust of him being some sort of liar or "not always meaning what he says"...... We recall his interview with Francesa (WFAN) last year (?) when he said the Yanks are absolutely not for sale - some of us said after the interview that the only way to see if he's full of baloney is to WATCH and WAIT it out over the next couple few years. He has shown willingness to SPEND as we saw in 2009 and it's still relevant because that crop of free agents did in fact help produce a WS title and of course still have an effect on the team- so now we're seeing the bad side of big long term contracts as the players get older which goes with the territory FOR ALL TEAMS when they dish out long term deals lasting into the player's mid-late 30s. Sure, of course we can criticize them for any poorly chosen extensions, I agree, but let's not accuse Hal of being afraid to spend.....as he did again prior to the 2014 season........and currently, I don't see too many superstar 20something year old free agents on the market, lol, so we can't jump on Hal for THAT......after two rounds ('09, '14) of big spending and getting killed in luxury taxes, Hal and co rightfully are in the process of whittling down and waiting out a few big contracts to expire while simultaneously moving in younger players where possible and leaning heavily on farm system products...... .......and they're not just "young" warm bodies, a good amount of them are highly regarded and a couple of them have already broken in with a couple more knocking on the door. Sorry, but I just don't see Hal being some sort of liar or being contradictory. The proof will be in pudding and the Yanks will be dropping 45(?)-85(?) mil from the payroll after 2016 and 2017- then we should get a true reading of where the Yanks/ Hal and co stand. What's all the fuss? Is Mark Cuban supposed to come in here riding his white horse, snap his finger and make everything right? lol
...just because someone chooses to ignore facts does not mean they don't exist. ...and mortgaging the next 8-10 years via bad contract deals in the past in return for a solitary 2009 WS Title is a very poor strategy and is unacceptable. ...Hal has flip flopped multiple times on his willingness to spend.
Hal and Trashman- if they were fishermen they'd starve, if it weren't for others feeding them canned mackerel, and carp....! Two cluless mofos. No wait, they won ONE world serious title, one, ONE time....ONCE....!~~!
But I have an inkling that Hal/Yanks were kinda expecting the '09 contracts to help win more than one WS Title......jeez. I agree a couple of those big long term contracts reduced flexibility but I don't think the future was necessarily "mortgaged". The team was quite competitive following '09 averaging 95 wins the following three seasons - it's not as if they fell off the map. The past three seasons (2013,14,15) they DID feel the pain of the final years of those '09 contracts......the team averaged 85 wins the last three seasons which I totally agree is unacceptable and missing the playoffs in '13 and '14. Yet it wasn't the end of the world because the org was unable to sustain 90+ wins virtually every season from the mid 90s to 2015....yeesh, give 'em a break will ya? lol Once again, I agree averaging 85 wins the past three seasons is totally unacceptable yet they did manage to qualify for a postseason ticket with 87 wins in 2015 - nope, nothing to brag about but certainly NOT (imo) "pathetic" or hopeless as some have said. IMO, the future is not mortgaged just because they hit the wall the last three seasons as we have already seen an influx of young players getting their chances and a couple/few more knocking on the door. We'll see how things work out this year. Yep, they certainly felt the drag the past three seasons of these final years of big contracts to aging players - I hear ya loud and clear on that...... but the org did get a pretty fair return up front from 2009- '12 averaging 97 wins and a WS Title - not too shabby but as is usually the case, the team (as most will) felt the pinch from the back end of those contracts- that's the way the cookie crumbles and the Yanks will and are dealing with it. My opinion, the organization's continued weakness in developing good (inexpensive) home grown SP the past few/many years has ALOT to do with the team being less "flexible" payroll-wise. imo - I think the team will be competitive this season and I expect "the future" to arrive not long after this season with glimpses of it in 2016. jmo
...sorry, but by Yankee standards, 7-8-9-10 years between WS appearances is unacceptable. ... and no, I won't give Cashman and the Steins "a break"...this ain't the fucking Marlins or Padres...this is the Yankees, and the Yankees don't rebuild, they reload. And the brain dead deals they handed out in the past did in fact "mortgage their future" because those contracts have hamstrung them and continue to do so now, which in retrospect is "the future". As I've said, Cashman's chickens "have come home to roost" and it shows. ...the kids on the farm have nowhere to play because the starting spots have been locked down. ( Tex, McCann, Gregorius, Castro, Headley, Beltran, Ellsbury, Gardner, ARod)...sorry, but you can make all the excuses you want, and you can cross your fingers till they break, but this team is "poorly constructed" and management is responsible. ...try as hard as you can to convince yourself otherwise and you can spit shine all you want...but you cannot polish a turd.
...^^^ ten hut ... Extremely well stated. Very few Sports Writers, Journalists, Analysts et al., could not of said this any better. Truly the adept words and mind of a long time hardcore Die-Hard Yankee Elder-Veteran Statesman, and most importantly a long time Fan. As hard core as it gets in any sport, a true reflection of Yankee Blood, given from the Gods... oh wait, I can't pat someone on the back, otherwise I have to pat everyone....? FK that, I'll pat those on the back, when they've earned it....such is not patronizing... Last- nope, 59 was unable to telepathically make me say this, I've got a lead lined cap on, "and oh by the way"; the bullshit radar stays on 24/7, to eternity and beyond.... (young men, step aside)...
give 'em (Hank and Trashman) a couple of years, and they'll both fk these kids up too .... tho' I hope otherwise...
