Big men have the obvious height advantage, but I got a feeling that something creative could come out of this. Any takers? Any dobuters?
Meh, lame, I wanna see some gaurds in the slam dunk contest, thats exciting, little guys w/ crazy moves, not big guys w/ two handed jams.
Well, Dwight Howard did make a request to be invited to the dunk contest (I made a thread about it with a source a while ago in the Magic forum). Personally, I love Dwight and he is one of the most powerful players in the league, but I hope he doesn't get invited. He will get scores around 48-50 for doing mediocre moves in the air with forceful finish. I don't want to see a guy do a 180 and throw it down hard, I want to see some SG/SF freak athletes get up there and awe me with the stuff they can do in the air.If any Magic player gets the invite, I hope it's Trevor Ariza.
^^What I was going to say. I'd rather see crazy tricks than powerful dunks. But in a game that all changes, I'd rather see Dwight sh*t on someone during a game.

I dont think that he would do very well in it to be honest. All of his dunks have power which is one reason I think they look so nice. Plus, he is so tall that I think the judges and the crowd wouldn't be as amazed to see him do a good dunk compared to a guy that is like 6 5 or 6 6. Although he is a great dunker, I could think of several guys that would do a better job. Look at Amare a couple years ago....he had some nice dunks, but he didn't win.
Dwight in the dunk contest would be retarded. He would have to pull off amazing things to compete.Off topic, Dwight has a 7'5" wingspan and a 36" vert.
Nahh, Dwights to big, he wouldn't have as much time to get something sweet off like an amazing windmill. 6'1 guards have a second or 2 more to get off some sweet moves.I wanna see Shannon Brown in the dunk contest.

Nah I don't wanna see Dwight in it. We saw already saw Amare Stoudemire in it twice, and while he threw it down hard, nothing too creative (outside of the Nash off the head passes).
Remember the most recent All-American high school dunk contest? There was a pretty tall guy in that. His dunks sucked, but the judges liked it for some reason. Nothing but Tomahawks. But those judges are basically celebrities who know nothing about basketball except that there's a basketball that's supposed to go in the rim.
^^That's like LeBron joining the dunk contest. All his dunnks are the same. They're just him getting up high, cocking it back and throwing it down. SO many players in the league can do that, but most of the players are averaging less then 10 mpg.
Amare Stoudimire...perfect examplebesides the off the head to Steve Nash (Which I thought was overrated) all of his dunks pretty much sucked and they took off because of his height
I'm sorry, but a 6'11" 265 pound bigman isn't going to look good in a dunk contest. Same issue with Amare Stoudemire a couple of years ago, he had no right being there.

He will not do anything else that he didn't do last year. He will do pretty much the same kind of dunks, but he'll continue to get great scores because he's a munchkin.About Gerald Green, nobody knows for sure who is going to get invited, but Gerald has said in interviews that he wants to do it. He said that if he's invited, he'll definitely do it, and he said that he's been working on a couple tricks just in case.If Gerald doesn't get invited, something is seriously wrong.
QUOTE (Jammin @ Jan 8 2007, 08:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

^^That's like LeBron joining the dunk contest. He can put it between his legs, do windmills, 360's, whatever. He has it all. Sure, when he's in a game, he mostly goes for a high jump and a power 1 handed flush, but he can do other things.
He to big as much as I like Dwight not for the dunk contest.I say pray, and beg for Iggy to wanna come back even though he said he would never do it again. He got robbed last year I still am mad about it a year later pretty much. LOL
